VEI Systems Dual Wideband gauge, review
Well since I finally picked up a Haltech dual wideband controller to replace my single AEM, I thought it would be nice to get a gauge that displayed both left and right bank on 1 display.

Its a really nice piece. 52mm, machined aluminum bezel, billet aluminum body
Nice big LEDs, easy to wire, select which bank is on top, etc. Plus its completely adjustable.
You can define exactly the linear curve of your widebands. The generic setting is 0V =10 and 5V =20, but if you had a sensor that was little bit different or wanted to match your tuner's dyno wideband, you can set it like 0.2V = 10, etc. I dont know, but if the stock widebands on new model VQs have a linear 0-5V, then you can just use the gauge and not even fuss with an aftermarket controller.
The gauge also incorporates a filter for both 0-5V inputs. The firmware within the gauge samples (electronically reads) the input data hundreds of times per second, and averages a few of these at a time to cancel out the effects of noise.
The filter level is adjustable from 1 to 15 of off, where the higher the
number, the less filtering and hence quicker updates. For gauges such as voltmeters,tachometers and boost gauges, less filtering (higher IIR values) are more desirable; for air-fuel ratio gauges, mid-level filtering works well, and for temperature gauges, speedometers or liquid level, more filtering (lower IIR values) generally work better.

So if you are looking for a sweet dual wideband gauge, or wanna reduce the # of gauges in your car by having 2 sensors into 1, the VEI stuff is very nice!!

Thats funny, I sold you my Haltech Wideband and now I am working on installing two of these attached to the instrument cluster hood just like yours. How do you like that glowshift gauge pod? How do you like that mounting location?
I prefer the pretty colored LED's which is why I decided to go with two gauges.
Good find on that gauge, looks like the one Injected sells.

Nice find str8dum1. I bought one of the ones from Injected and it looks a little different with amber display to match the instrument cluster (rather than default red or blue) but also solid aluminum. I'll be able to post a review up on it soon. The configurability is really nice. Basically you can zero in your low and high reading to match exactly what the Haltech shows or what an external device reads. Very nice.

ya the red matches a few other digital gauges that I have as well.
Its just a stndard plastic pod, it does its job. i've used that location for years, so its natural to me. But even with it there, you still dont notice it when you are really "driving". Too bad there's no configurable warning led that strobes if your AFR was problematic.

^ I'm using my aux output to latch trigger a boost cut if the AFR > 12.2 and TPS > 20 and PSI > 4. With the I/O box, hopefully we'll have a few more lines to play with, but with the one spare on the Haltech, that's what I picked as the highest yield failsafe for tip in lean conditions. I had to use a relay to delay activation of the circuit by the remote start signal for the amplifier because the Haltech's AUX output is triggered momentarily during start up, which was kind of a pain as it activated the failsafe (which could be reset with a button push but still PITA every car start).
Without a boost and AFR combined gauge, I don't think a warning within the gauge would be feasible...

i think that how its intended to work but its has ability to be used as the wideband for the ecu. I think I deviated from thread topic by talking about proefi 128 and its build in true twin wideband capabilities...... I apologize.
Personally id get the gauge in blue if you already have blue gauges that is...amber if it all matches. Should def be considered by those with TTs

There has to be a way to take two different wide band controllers and just combine the displays. I Wish I had to ability to make one :hmm:
