Oil pan spacer question.
Hey cool oil dudes. Done a bit of research but could find nothing definitive . I looking at installing either an Altered Atmosphere or JWT pan spacer for two reasons. More oil capacity and also to fit/tap in an oil temp sensor. With the sensor, is this a good location, will it give a true reading or does it need to be in the sandwich plate for the lines to my oil cooler (inlet) . Or are the spacers more an oil feed source for FI purposes. It doesn't look like clearance will be an issue as there are other parts lower.
Thanks. |
I have my oil temp gauge coming off of the spacer. I think this is a better place for temp, as pressure should be run off the plate adapter.
Bottom of the pan sits roughly a 1/4" above my sway bar. |
it's a good place for a temp sensor. It will show the average temps of oil in the pan which i think is the best way to look at unless you are overly concerned about too high of oil temps right out of your turbo or whatnot.
I like the "average' type readings from the pan verses the spikes from the oil return lines. |
Thanks for that. I am HKS S/Ced and will be doing a little tracking. I should have added that in my OP. I'v installed a Zeitronix ZT2. AFR is connected and i'l be hooking up oil temp and boost.
Ruthless would love to here the story about you avatar. |
