Stillen supercharger, you don't like your hood? LOOK
Hello guys,
I don'T know if you agree, but I do not really love the Stillen hood and was enable to find any other interesting hood to hide my Stillen supercharger (had the stillen hood before but the look don't really fit with my wide body). So I decided to do one by myself and I am interested to get your feedbacks how you find it and if you can have any interest when I will have the mold completed. Thanks |
little too much vents/scoop for my taste but mad props to you for constructing one yourself. I know I wouldnt even know where to begin, muchless create one that looks remotely decent. But to each his own my friend, if you like it then sport it!

new hood
I like it. I am thinking of doing something similar to the Stillen hood I have. I want to place vents similar to the side vents you have on your hood. I just need to get the car to the body shop in the spring. They will remove the hood and come up with a custom vent scheme. Post some pics when your car is complete.

I think it looks good so far! For doing it your self, AWESOME!

OVERKILL.
From the design standpoint, all you will see is...hood. For a racecar ok..they tack on stuff all the time for to be functional. Not a street driver.Since you planned to fabricate a hood scoop, may have been better(easier)to buy one of the many FG scoops on the market and adapt it to the Z hood.Of course its hard to see what the finished product will look like, but from the shape,I'd do something less boxy/blend into the hood. But hey,who am I to talk.I just worked in some BMW M3 vents into my front fenders(ala Amuse).Working on fabricating/installing finned aluminum vented accents for my hood(Aston-Martin look). Sometimes you gotta think outta the box or,the world will pass you by! Good luck on your project. In for pics! |
Its different kller for a race car but just not for the street
|
Having once owned the stillen hood, I applaud you for actually not conforming to what's only available. Taste is subjective, I do not like your hood(my opinion) but in the end it's your hood, you might like it, who cares what I think. Again though, the mere fact that you made it is impressive:)

inn for more!

in for finished pics!
Props for doing it yourself! |
Lets see it finished, then I'll decide. LOVE the individuality!

In for the finish!

In fact, I find it a little too much either, but with the stillen supercharger about 3 inches over the OEM hood, I don't have the choice to do what I would like to do...
Thanks for the comments |
Extremely fawking gaudy.
Looks like a Z, GTR and Evo X all had a 3 way, and the child was the worst nut of their loads combined + palsy. |
Not a fan of the hood or the wannabe-GTR bumper. Whatevs...
|
Might have been easier and looked better to just buy one of those universal hot rod hood scoops and then modded it to fit.

Scoop-ass backwards?

Thanks for the comments blended into the hood, angling towards the rear, the rear having the opening. Umfortunately, this will look like scoop off a Mustang but it would sure look better. With 3" clearance, the angle would not be too extreme. It sure would be more aerodynamic! In addition,as far as function goes, the air coming into your scoop serves no purpose as all your intakes are in front.A venting at the rear of the scoop will at least allow air to exit. Also,I'd consider doing a "texture" of sorts on the scoop surface...some grooves inline with the car. Since the opening of the scoop will be facing the driver, maybe you could install a creative grille or some "wizz-bang" boost gauge for your SC? I'm surprised some guy with deep pockets has'nt made a acrylic/Lexan "bubble" to mount on the hood, show off the bling of that SC. |
I think you should round out the lines and turn it around seeing that it's not functional facing forward. Kind of like a trans ws6 hood "I think"
But good stuff man ! It makes me a happy man seeing another cutting **** up and having fun. |
Hello Guys,
First of all, thanks for your feedbacks and comments... I completed the mold and get my first hood out of it. It is not assembled yet with the undershell but it give us a good idea of what it will look like. It is not clear on pictures but the louvers are made of Carbon fiber. Next pics will be when the car will be completed and painted... In the mean time, let me know if you stick to your first opinion or change your mind... Thanks |
Good work and awesome creativity...... BUT it's simply ugly....
sorry if I came it harsh but that's the truth... I would go with a stock hood and cut it to fit in the stillen blower.. simple, easy, good looking, and functional... |
