OK... I originally wanted the 530 kit as well but JWT offered the GT28s at a steal as well in '08. Was running the 700bb kit for 3yrs on my stock block and really enjoyed it. However in the back on my head I always knew I wasn't getting full potential from it and wondering if/when I would blow my block. When my trans lost 3rd gear in July '10, I parked it. I took a job back in Iraq in Dec '10 and told myself it I was going to fix the car I'm going to build it and do everything all at once.

However I was also considering selling it for a GT-R or CTS-V. Decided to keep it since it was paid off and I didn't want the $1k+ payments from the other two choices. So Dec '11 I ordered my IPP block and had the car towed to PowerFab in Houston. None-the-less, It's been a stressful 10-11 months but I'm looking forward to coming home and enjoying the new power and reliability (knock on wood).

BTW: Good looking car!

you will be very happy, i originally went with the 530BB kit, then built my block with the same kit.

as far as GTR goes, i would not compare it to the CTS-V at all. the GTR is perfect in many ways, the price tag is what makes it hard to choose.

but i smoke stage 1 gtr upgrades all day long. after 3rd gear spin hook it into 4th and bam.

i also broke my 3rd gear maybe in 08, went with the CD09 and no problems since. Hamdulliah.

i hope you get back home safely and enjoy your new beast.

here is my car again in my shop.

Good luck. Don't know if I'd ever do this again.

LOL Well when I'm home and if I don't like the sills I'll sell them back to ya.

As far as the build... Too much money/time/stress for the results. Knowing what I know now... I should've bought the CTS-V.

That's what I thought. I'm being a little more easy on my stock block.

But I'm going to hang on to my Z. This build is over though. Might have some minor changes to the interior but I'm moving on and going to do my best just to enjoy the car.

I'm not a fan of the power curve as it climbs to redline, but if you're happy that's what counts.

his power curve is right where it should be especially with his cams. seems like there was some slippage/spin way up which created the rough top end.

Just that it loses steam after 5k RPM. I would want it to keep climbing until redline, but its probably since boost isn't holding and the cams as someone mentioned before. But of course you're still over the 500HP mark so it's nothing to snicker about lol.

You're use to reading those big *** turbos than. LOL The GT28's aren't that big. 16-18psi is full efficiency for them. Any more and you start overusing the turbo and lose power. Think with a higher compression and smaller cam they'd spool a bit quicker but I like how the power is almost N/A powerband. I think this will be a fun street car. Take ya for a ride and tell me you're not impressed. LOL

Is that a 93 octane tune? If so, any plans for a 100 octane (or higher) tune? Looks great so far (although the ~40rwhp inflection point around 6600RPM would make me listen for some detonation with a stethoscope, but I'm no expert). I love my JWT 700BBs!

Yes that is the 93 pump tune. Next will be Shell URT 100 tune.

I actually need to talk to Bryan about that. Being in Iraq and him busy hard press to check each other. None-the-less looking forward to getting home soon and driving the new power.

Oh and for **** and giggles I found my baseline dyno from 2005(?) when I bought my Z. Completely stock with 20k(?) miles on it. Baseline was 232whp/226wtq and the Built Boosted is 551whp/558wtq. Gains of 319whp & 332wtq. Don't know how many people have a baseline VQ35DE to compare too. Thought I'd share.
