From my understanding the 4.5l motor is 96mm (.020 over) and uses same Pistons

Little update pics. Beginning re assembly now 👌🏽💯 also scooped up a set of dc sport headers for super cheap to replaced my poorly fitting poorly flowing top speed headers that I had before, they fit so bad I have to heavily massage them to fit. Bought some louvers to fit to the hood aswell.

Snagged some 6 shooters to replace my poly mounts. Will have my poly mounts for sale soon

Bottom end is almost patched up and torque to spec. Got crank and bearings all in and good. Got #1 and #2 Pistons in and rods torque to spec but the piston ring compressor I have is garbage do gonna get a better 1 today and finish the bottom end up. Then just waiting on my gasket kit to come in to assemble the rest of the motor. Goal is to have the motor atleast tempt into the car by early Jan.

Solid mounts, it is officially a race car, lol.

I don't know what people are scared of with rebuilding a VQ, just gotta have some funky tools

I've actually only had to buy 2 tools that I didn't have before. A ring compressor and the reverse hex weird socket that the 16 main cap bolts have. The rest has been done with nothing but your every day tools, 10mm,12mm,14mm,17mm and a 19 here n there

What did you end up for Bearing Clearances?

And Crank Thrust clearance?

And Piston/cylinder chearance?

Did you upgrade the piston pins?

Thanks,

Unless he sprays, there's no need to upgrade those wrist pins. They're good for a ton of power and piston speed. At least if those are wiseco's. I know CP are stronger compared to the wisecos too. The upgraded pins are just thicker from what I noticed. Pretty cheap though. I did the upgrade.

Update, motor is running smooth rear main is good to go now. Break in is done and have been starting to getting into boost. When rear main let go it got some oil on my clutch disk (6 puck) cleaned it as good as I could and tossed it back in. It seems the oil didn't completely clean off and car is slipping ever so slightly up top but it seems to be improving with every pull so hopefully it will dry out. Regardless car pulls very strong.
