Not sure if I'm really maxing my maf

1 Attachment(s)
Not sure if this is possible with this setup, but it seems like my maf may be maxing.
I have a procharger and currently have the 41/25 pulleys on (had 39/26 on last dyno tune). I know I need to get a retune but I just gave it a punch last night in 2nd and car went into limp mode and started bogging. Turned the car off for 10 sec restarted it and it was driving like normal again no CEL whatsoever. Hooked up Cipher today to try some data logging and it shows that at 4600+ RPM I am hitting over 5v. I havent seen any procharger builds as of yet(or specified at least) needing to change out the maf. can this be another problem other than truly maxing out the stock MAF? also at what power levels does the stock MAF usually get maxed out? I saw the post from JWT about MAF voltage errors or something so not sure if this is what it is, and if so what is the method of fixing this in osiris?

I am attaching an excel file with the log of this. the problem is shown at data# 288636 and on. You can clearly see where the car also went into limp mode right after.

from left to right the cells are: data cell#, coolant temp, ignition timing, calculated load, engine rpm, maf voltage.

any help or insight would be appreciated. Thanks

oem MAF maxes out in the mid to high 3's (dynojet) typically. It's more than plausible you're maxing it out.

jdm-v35 Jun 15, 2014 03:23 PM

yea my last dyno(dynojet) was 370hp with the 39/26 pulleys. I guess its time for an upgraded maf!! probably going with HPX unless there's any other recommendations?

Uprev GT is popular now adays but HPX should be fine (I use an HPX myself for the past 4 years).

also found this solution and it looks like it could solve my problem! https://my350z.com/forum/tuning/5921...ing-uprev.html

Did this work for you?

Steve-Z33 Oct 19, 2014 03:02 PM

Im running the uprev gt works great

Conway_160 Oct 19, 2014 03:28 PM

I maxed my MAF out at 355Whp at roughly 10PSI with my procharger, but i went the https://my350z.com/forum/tuning/5921...ing-uprev.html Route instead of buying a new maf and at 12psi i was at 4.5'ish or so.

Stock maf here, about 10psi, 400whp. No issues whatsoever with bogging/maxing out. I believe the stock housing for the maf being 2.5 inches has something to do with it, because I run a GTM 3 inch maf sensor housing and I'm fine.

Go bigger intake piping. I'm using the uprev PMAS with bigger pipes.

the resistor mod worked fine for me and if it needs to be redone I will just use a larger MAF tube as well. was thinking 3" ID as well, but for now its not necessary, plus I probably won't be hitting 13psi here in colorado. I don't see any other upgrades in the future for this car so I shouldn't need more than that though.

Are you going to have Mac Autosports Tune your car?

jdm-v35 Oct 21, 2014 01:56 PM

nope gonna do it myself. its been tuned but just needs slight tweaking for elevation. Im not gonna pay those sky high prices for a slight retune. They've raised prices 100 more recently as of September also. If it wasn't for that I would have had them do it honestly.

Any Updates?

updates on what? Did 40 ohm maf mod months ago and it works. Since I live at elevation now with less boost its definitely not a problem at all.

Nice. Just asked to see if all was still well with the mod. Glad it worked for u.

jdm-v35 Nov 3, 2014 03:37 PM

thanks. yea it seems to work but you could also get a little more out of it with a larger maf tube. I was still getting close to 5v at redline at sea level. I would guess with oem maf tube its good to about 450hp. any more and id recommend hpx.
