Running out of fuel and shouldn't be.... Help??

My setup... Built motor 8.8-1, cjm fuel return, headers, test pipes, vortech v2 sci trim with 2.87 pulley, 5/16 plenum spacer, 600cc injectors, walbro 255.

Ran out of injector at around 6000rpm 414whp. Fuel pressure is set to 55lbs at idle and my afr is solid. I just feel like 600cc injectors should have got me further. Any input would be awesome.... Thanks

Conway_160 Jun 13, 2016 04:20 PM

I maxed out 440's at 361 whp at 5100 rpms. With my procharger.

My DW600s ran to 455whp...414 feels a little low but it's not out of the ballpark. I would look into a larger set of injectors.

Your pump is to small. It falls off in the higher pressures.

Also what CJM setup do you have? A CJM stage 2 is the way to go.

timmays350 Jun 13, 2016 09:46 PM

I just have the stage 0 fuel return. What pump setup would you recommend?

OldManZ350 Jun 13, 2016 10:22 PM

SC's eat a ton of fuel and the main feed line is very small, so you likly have a restrictions there.. You need a Stage 2 CJM. Charles can give you the part to convert it to a Stage 2.

What WHP to you expect to make?

But the next step up is a DW300

timmays350 Jun 13, 2016 11:10 PM

I'm only looking for 450-480 or whatever's possible with the standard blower for now. Stage 2 seems a tad extreme lol.

OldManZ350 Jun 13, 2016 11:27 PM

Well I have a CJM Stage 2 on a stock block and look at my numbers....

Depending on your build 600whp phus is no problem

OldManZ350 Jun 13, 2016 11:29 PM

Your low compression does take a bit out over the blower.

Got cams and/or head work?

OldManZ350 Jun 13, 2016 11:32 PM

Have you ever looked at the the inside diameter of the stock feed line?

OldManZ350 Jun 13, 2016 11:34 PM

And a tad extreme or not, it takes what it takes, there is no cutting corners to make HP.

timmays350 Jun 14, 2016 06:25 AM

No my valve train is all oem.

Do you think head work or cams do more justice for a FI build? Im going to be heading down the FI rabbit hole soon here my self and thought cams were read to be a waste of $$ for the gain. At least for N/A people seem to be across the board the stock Z cam is pretty solid on its own.. does it make that big of a difference for FI?

Specific cams/cam type you would recommend? Or again is head work better suited?

I know your the old man to beat ATM with stock block so Im all ears with your opinion.

You have to remember power is all made with the heads! The more air that moves through the head the more power you can make!

CK_32 Jun 14, 2016 08:23 AM

Yup Air, Fuel Spark. The more of each, the bigger boom, the bigger boom the faster zoom.

So Im assuming the way you stated porting/polishing would increase more than a cam job? Only thing Ive dug into is FI and Im still lost on where/what the hell I want/need for my goals. Once I get past that mountain I'll probably ream more up on the rest of it.

Hell I still haven't even finished rebuilding the front end on my car yet lol

But Im realistically looking to TOPS a 450WHP if not 400, at least for now 350-400WHP is my objective for boost when installed with a single.. I know that's plenty. I don't need/want a record setter or be one of those I HAVE to have 875 WHP to beat Hondas and lambo guys haha. Just something to get my a tickle on a highway with a solid 5th gear pull and something that will actually do something on the local drag strip once a blue moon.

Fi is not just Fi.......

A Supercharger is a very different animal than a turbo.......

Cams and Headwork would add power much like on an NA.

I don't get people. They ask for advise and then through it out the window.

Why would anybody spend all that money building a motor and then not spend the money to give it what it needs to Run Right?

Some people just have no business owning a car. they should walk or take the bus.

REMEMBER GUYS MY MOTOR IS STOCK AND UN-TOUCHED. I JUST GAVE IT WHAT IT NEEDED TO MAKE REAL HP

rcdash Jun 15, 2016 09:04 AM

I would never recommend anything less than 1000 cc injectors for FI on our platform. There is no downside - same cost, great driveability, stoich AFR at idle. In fact, with the new 1300 cc ID injectors, I would favor those. Those allow me to hit over 800 whp on E85. Only one purchase ever needed for injectors...

Because its MUCH easier and cheaper to just say you have a blown turbo motor. Than spend the cash and say you have a working turbo motor lol

Cool points come quick and easy, actual respect comes with hard time.

why are you running 55 psi fuel pressure at idle. drop it to 43psi unreferenced.

Higher the fuel pressure, the less the pump flows as well.. do basic stuff 1st...
