Vortech Belt Slip/noise Solution
Vortech Belt Slip/noise Solution-Fix
I have corrected the problems with the Vortech Drive Belt and Pulleys.
It works Great. No Belt or pulley noise. The Belt no longer has to be so tight that is stretches.
1. Machine the Stock Fixed Idler Pulley (for flat side of Belt) Machine just enough to remove RIBS and side to side so the Belt sits Flat in Pulley
2. Purchase a 12mm x 110mm Hex Head Bolt and machine (or grind) the Head Hight down to about .200 in.
3. WRONG>>>>> Purchase a 92-1/8 long V-Belt Gates # 060915 (for 2.87 Dia Pulley or a Delta 060923 (for 3.31 dia Pulley)
CORRECT>>>> My Belt is 91-1/4” Long with a 2.87 Pulley. Napa/Gates Micro-V 060908
4. Remove the Vortech middle Idler Pulley.
5. Route the Belt around the Crank, under and around the the Fix Idler to the Blower, over the top Idler, under the lower Idler to the power steering pump, around the Alt and over the Adj Idler.

Definately want to see "Pictures"! I immediately replaced my "Gator" belt with a "NAPA" belt. Works GREAT, but would still like to get rid of some "noise".

I dont know the pulley names . But the one with 4 set screws on it , is the one you milled off the grooves ? And just removed the middle pulley and used the purchased 12mm bolt to replace the one used on the removed pulley ? Im just wondering if your going to have enough........gripping area... the belt will be touching less area of the jackshaft pulley . The belt is coming from a wider angle than before . Im just looking at mine and your pic at the same time and think about possible problems with it . Im not trying to take away from your idea...its a good one....Lets us know how it comes out in the next couple weeks....slipping or not.....It will be a easy replace if it does slip......Bill

everyone who's done TIMROD's new belt solution, I need to know where you bought that idler pulley from and what the part number is.
I'm having a hard time finding something that'll work.
here's a before and after picture of his modification, with the only difference being that I have added an additional idler pulley near the jackshaft pulley. Hell, you might even be able to take the one that you remove and put it there
