Whoa...It's Been A While!

Another wallet-emptying hobby took up my time for the past few years, but it's time to give the Z some attention again!

My 350Z has the below power modifications:
  • NISMO drop-in air filter
  • Motordyne 5/16" Basic Plenum Spacer
  • DC Sports headers
  • Berk HFCs
  • NISMO S-Tune Y-pipe + cat-back
With the above, and UpRev-tuned on a Mustang dyno, the result is 277 WHP.

At the very least, I'd like to hit 340 WHP, so FI is the only way to go, but this is where I get lost. I want to keep it simple - bolt it on (without having to upgrade internals), hit the dyno, and not have to worry about long-term reliability or destroying any internal parts. I've only looked at SC kits from HKS and Vortech, as these are apparently the simplest plug-and-play options that require little else in the areas of maintenance and upgraded internals. I haven't ventured into researching turbo kits yet.

I'd like your expertise in pointing me towards simple / basic / "entry-level" supercharger/turbocharger kits :)

The Vortech V3 Sci Full Kit is as bolt-on as it gets. Stillen used to have a roots style bolt-on kit for the DEs years ago, but it's long since been discontinued, I think they only offer a kit for the HR these days. I've read good things about HKS, but never looked into it myself since it was never C.A.R.B. legal. The Full Kit from Vortech includes a piggy-back ECU and fuel pump assist, in short, it's a turn-key solution.

If you want to get a little more out of the Vortech system, go with the tuner kit. The tuner kit allows you and/or your tuner to make selections for items like fuel pump, injectors, wide-band, and engine management. This is nice for future planning should more power be desired. You already have an Uprev flash, so this is the route I would recommend.

You should consider a large capacity oil pan and/or external oil cooler and/or upgraded radiator. I don't expect you to be tracking the Z or beating on it hard, but for peace of mind, I would recommend investing some extra cash into cooling upgrades. The 350Z engine bay is known to suffer from heat soak, even in NA form under prolonged WOT conditions.
