Vortech SplitSecond Box doesn't do fuel control.
OK, just want to clear something up. Called Vortech tech help line today. I was told that the Split Second box that comes with the Vortech Supercharger has no control over fuel management. The tech guy said it only does timing control. When I mentioned the fact that people here are saying they can control their fuel levels with the box, he asked another tech that is very knowledgeable in the system. The other tech also said it only does timing control.
So that would mean that the only fuel control is a mechanical FMU. So, which is it guys? Does the Vortech tech not know what he's talking about or is the SplitSecond box just a timing controller? |
Odd you should bring ths up ...
I talked with SplitSecond today about the unit included with the Vortech system. SS told me that the box included CAN do fuel if you use the R4 software to tune it. Vortech only uses it for timing control though. Better ? |
Much, thank you.

Better ? thats funny because i got the software from vortech so i could lean it out. it has two maps. map a is fuel and map b is timing. you can add fuel or take it away. timing can only be taken out. i have played with my settings in both fuel and timing. |

HMMM ... guess I was mis-lead ...

Vortech also claims that the split-sec box isn't tunable.

No, I think the techs are just dip sh*ts. :D

Zimbo, Thanks for posting this.
So do those numbers in the matrix represent your target A/F ratios at those points? And how does the box know what PSI (I'm assuming this is from the supercharger) you are at? It's weird because I thought the R4 software works off of voltage, not PSI. Originally posted by zimbo How's this for proof: http://www.audioenvy.com/images/g35/r4shot.jpg --Steve |
No, that's not a target A/F. Those points represent an amount of fuel to add at the given PSI/RPM cell. A higher number means more fuel--and you need a dyno or a logging A/F gauge to triangulate. You'll notice that the ECU already adds more fuel at WOT, so the numbers at higher RPMs under boost add less fuel but the A/F still goes down.
The SS box has one of those tiny air hoses like you find on a boost gauge and it's fed off of the output of the Plenum. If you drive around with the laptop connected, the active cell is highlighted as you drive (and you can actually record its movement). Pretty cool. --Steve |
That is very nice! How do you like it compared to other fuel and timing control systems? I seen things like the techno ecu re-flash, afexi afc and the greddy e-manage. Do you think the splitsecond is the best to get?

I would like to point out the Vortech press release:
http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/news/2003_350z.html says: Fuel management upgrade includes a high-flow fuel pump and fuel management unit for safe, reliable operation and: Stand-alone ignition timing control computer for seamless acceleration My $.02. |

The "press release" says FMU for fuel control and SS box for timing. Seriously, what's up with that. Sounds like they guys on this forum know more about the system than Vortech does. |
LOLZY!!!
