Who says Vortech can't make big power!
How does 501rwhp and 412tq sound?
A buddy of mine just installed an NX intercooler sprayer and broke 500 on the last dyno. His mods are: Vortech S/C w/ 2.87 pulley Crawford Plenum JWT Cams Nismo Headers Helix Test Pipes Injen Straight Tip Exhaust NX Intercooler Sprayer His car made 435rwhp before spraying the intercooler and 501rwhp with spray. This was at 10.5psi on stock internals. Custom tuning was done by ZCarGarage in San Jose, CA. Of course this makes me jealous. I am making 415rwhp without cams and stock cats. And without the NX intercooler sprayer. Time to save up... I am currently waiting on a copy of the dyno sheet to post. I may need someone to host it though. |
Good lord! I'm not a big fan of centrifugal superchargers, but those are some great numbers. On stock internals no less. I'm sure this is no daily driver setup but it's cool just to see some one do it any way. Post the dyno as soon as you can.
Of course if he gained 65whp from just a N2O spray on the IC it shows how overworked the IC is. Gary |
Yes the intercooler has to go.....whats out there that will fit and cool better ?
|
Trust me when I say most of the gains are from the dry shot and have little to do with cooling the IC. We have done extensive dyno testing using a $2000 digital thermocoupler that shows exactly what is going on. There are much better ways to introduce N20 into the system than this.

I believe he is just spraying the intercooler before the dyno run , not during . If he sprayed during , then Im sure the N20 found its way into the intake . LouZer .....Can you find out or do you know exactly how he sprayed ? |
How does he adjust for the cooler, denser air with the R4 software? It has no way to "see" the change in AF ratio so you would probably have to use 2 different maps. One map for the spray and one without. I know the Vortech intercooler is not the best design but I didn't expact that much of a gain. Wow!

Let's see dynos...
It's all talk unless you have the graphs to back it up. From experience, I know it took a lot of work and tuning to get my Vortech to 425rwhp WITH cam, plenum, and full exhaust upgrades. I simply do not believe you are making 415rwhp without cams or cats. If you can back that claim, then awesome. Otherwise, I must be skeptical based on what we've seen as the aggregate numbers posted by Vortech owners on this forum. Though, I am intrigued by your friend's numbers. Again, I'd like to see the dynos, but that seems possible considering his list of mods. For his, I'd like to see the dyno simply to see if he has taken my crown as the highest output SC 350Z (not spraying and running stock internals). He better be careful, tho. A lot of cars have broken bottom ends that were running much less than his claimed (at the moment) 501rwhp. Not trying to be an a$$... in fact, I'm hoping you can prove your claims. That would be awesome news for Vortech owners. |
Booger- spraying of the intercooler was done during the dyno run, not before. I believe it dropped intake temp. about 80 degrees.
-Same fuel map whether sprayed or not. mcduck-PM me your email address and I will send you my dyno chart. If you can host it as well, that would be great. Also, aren't you running the stock Vortech pulley? I am running the 2.87 and getting 10.5psi. As far as the tuning, I would have to ask the guy who tuned both cars. |
If he spray during...Im sure some of it got into the intake and helped also
|
We talked about that before hand and talk of some sort of shield to prevent that sort of thing took place. I will find out if that ever went into place. But, I think if any spray got into the intake it would make it dangerously lean. Once I get ahold of the dyno chart we should know for sure.
I have a copy of my dyno sheet if anyone wants to host it. My car is still in its final tuning stages so we are still working on timing as well as the A/F ratio. I just want to put to rest anyone calling Bullsh!t. Exact numbers for my car are 415.8hp and 356.6tq. You can see which mods in my sig. |

Yeah man, good #'s but the spray is making those big #'s. Would think your torque would be a little higher..
And I hope your buddy isn't going to run that often, that aint going to last too long. |
As far as I know 412tq is really good for a centrifugal S/C.
For anyone that is confused... NOS is sprayed on the intercooler. It is not a dry shot of NOS. It is not forcing the engine to work harder. It is only cooling down the intake temp. |
LouZer,
I read in the other thread you already got someone to host the dyno... let me know if that doesn't work. I missed the part about you running the 2.87 pulley. I was mistakenly assuming you were running the stock pulley. Can't wait to see the dyno! I should be upgrading to the 3.12" pulley this weekend. Have you had any problems with the belt on the 2.87? And yes, 412tq is really good for a centrifugal S/C, but is on par with your friends HP figures. What I've noticed with the Vortech is that peak torque numbers are typically about 85% of peak HP numbers. Damn... if these numbers are for real, I have to get back to work to be the top (non-spraying) SC 350Z! ;-) |
I just realized that I forgot to mention the 501rwhp car is a G35C.
I just sent yobri my dyno chart and he will be posting shortly. I had to have the belt tightened once, but other than that no problems. |

If anyone is wondering why it is on lined paper... Well, I had the shop fax it to me and I could not find any white paper...

Trust me on this, we did it with the Vortech kit and Ive seen it with my own eyes. We made 451rwhp on an untuned (read seriously rich) Vortech kit. |
As far as I know they took precautions for the intake filter to not suck up the NOS. So it is not effectively a dry shot of NOS.

ok, have fun with it
