Pics, how bad is the engine damaged?

venommaxr33 Feb 26, 2006 02:58 PM

the damage was to the rear 1/4 panel and driver's side taillight at about 15mph

I know on Ford vehicles, there is a fuel cut-off button located (usually) in the trunk of most their cars. When the vehicle sustains an impact, the button pops up. To reset, just push the button and the car will start. I don't know if this is the case for the Z.

is the car a 6mt?

might be a broken clutch switch

hndumafia Feb 26, 2006 06:35 PM

why not have it towed to a dealership and have the dudes insurance cover the costs?

venommaxr33 Feb 26, 2006 06:41 PM

yeah its a 6spd but the damage is in the back and purly cosmetic( as far as i know). my insurance is gonna pay for it b/c im the dumb one who back into my brother in laws truck. when they say lik a rock they mean it. all he had is 2 scratches on his bumper.

hndumafia Feb 26, 2006 07:30 PM

oh well better to have had a fender bender with someone you know than someone you don't i think. good luck getting your car back into action.

Mtxzptlk Feb 26, 2006 11:23 PM

if the collision of the accident is strong enough, the clutch switch can be broken. seen it happen before, got in an accident w/ a 5sp (was rear ended) the car never started after the hit. took it to dealership they said it was a broken clutch switch in addition to the rest of the damage.

stupidity aside, what's happened happened. take it to dealership or a reputable shop have it look at. and go from there.

You sure there is nothing wrong with it but cosmetic damage? There is an evap canister back there (I can't remember which side, though) that leads to the gas tank. Just guessing, but it is worth a try.

If it were me, though, it would go straight to the dealership.

so let me be the first to say im an idoit:banghead: !!!!! here'swhat the problem was. after the accident i was a little pissed off. so i got out of the car, saw the damage, and threw the keys to the ground. here's where the problem is...there a computer chip inside the key. when i threw the keys down i broke the security chip thus it wouldn't let the car start....so with that said let the bashing begin:icon02:

FYI...dont break your key. $102 for a new key and $40 to program the key to your car.

Mtxzptlk Feb 27, 2006 08:02 PM

ouch.... that alot of bank for a key. :icon11:

i take it u had the stealership do it? :icon8:

all good mang, just charge it all the experience. 'nother day older and wiser
