Im about to start my install. Fedex says my Nexus headers will be here on Wed. For those of you that have done the install did you remove the cats first or can you unbolt the manifold and slide em out the bottom with the cats?? Thanks!

undo the cats first. it will give you more room to work up there. plus, i don't think you can get the heat shields off with the cats in place.

Just wanted to update this. I got my heat shields off with just unbolting them. It was very easy just gave them a turn and they slide right out. I also was able to get the manifolds off with the cats installed with out any problems. On the driver side I didnt even have to take off the steering U joint.

I have done headers and I will tell you that the headers are going to be more difficult to get in that the stock manifolds are to get out. You will most likely need to unbolt the steering u joint.

darn..that mean it will cost $600 to $700 to install? more expensive than the header itself.

I did mine this past weekend, along with installing some HF cats...ummmmm, it was a little b*tch to be frank! It was my first header install and it wore me out, seriously
I spread the install out over two full days and followed a good set of instructions off the net. I took my time obviously and removed a lot of stuff to get to the headers. I properly torqued the nuts down I was careful not to round them off, which could easily be done. I used a box wrench or a sigle socket and ratchet to tighten the new headers down. I wasn't comfortable using all the extensions. To much flexing, twisting and scratching with the tools. I realy didn't want to scratch the coating, so I really streched the install out. In the end, it was worth it, but I never want to do it again unless the engines pulled...!

Yeah I was kind of thinking that. We'll see when the headers get here today. I also didnt remove the driver coolant lines, I didnt see the need. All in all this job is a *****! I wouldnt do it again. So far I have about three hours into it. Im guessing it will take another three to get em back in.
