You might want to check my Heads up thread on the HKS. Basically my mid-pipe on the passenger side was rubbing the body mount bolt directly over the rear sway. Causing the whole rear of the car to groan/rattle when taking off from a stop.

THankfully it was pretty easy to fix by denting the pipe a little. Just be sure after installing the HKS to check the area for clearance before dropping the car back down. I had zero clearance there before I modified the pipe with a hammer. Hopefully mine was a freak problem, but be sure to check...just in case.

I will be planning something very soon. I am very busy this week, but hopefully I will be able to know something from Dynospeed and the other local Z owners. PM me this weekend, or next week to remind me. We will definately have one soon sometime.

Keep in touch...
Jon

My install went pretty straight forward but in the end the tips seem to stick out far even though they are addjusted all the way in and the drivers side popped off the hanger the other day. fixed it w/ a zip tie but sound is worth it kind of like a V-8

Sorry to hear about your problems. Was it the mid pipe hanger or the muffler hanger that slipped off? Both of mine sit well back from the tip of the hanger and I can't imagine the exhaust moving enough for them to slip off.

I'm running my tips pulled all the way out and they are pretty much flush with the veritcal face of the bumper. When I look down over the bumper I can just see the outer edge of the tips where the bumper starts to curve. They do stick out little more than stock this way, but I just can't bring myself to sliding them in hiding those beautiful ti tips.

If you need to move the tips in more, you could try lengthening the adjustment slots so you'll have more room for adjustment.

It's by far not the loudest exhaust in world, but the sound is great...especially when your really on the gas above 3k rpm.

Ken,

Be sure to put your silencer on when riding around Jackson as of this day. I just got pulled over by JPD this afternoon and gave me a warning on my Flowmaster Exhaust on my Camry. This exhaust is not even loud enough comparing to the one that I have on my Z. Cop said that there has been a lot of complains about cars that have a loud exhaust. I think this is B.S. but until I can find it somwhere in the TN law that it is, I can't do anything about it.

BTW, when are you going to let me your HKS exhaust? Holla back.

Hey myehrick,

Thankfully my HKS doesn't have/need silencers. It's only slightly louder than stock till I really drop the hammer then it gets pretty loud. Overall though, I'd say your Z's invidia is waaaayyy louder than the hks. LOL, I saw you again the other day coming by kroger on oil well. I was a long ways off but heard you coming...I knew it was you before I even saw you Heck, when you hit the bypass I could still hear you pulling gears all the way down to next light.

Regarding your sound warning, I think it's a local thing not state. Jackson has had a local noise ordinance for awhile. I thought it was only for stereo's though. Maybe with all the fart-can honda drivers showin' off makin' all that terrible noise, the cops are going after ALL import cars now to. I bet they don't even care about the v-8 trucks with the straight pipes.

I remember several years ago when I was into car audio big time, I got a warning or two from the cops but never for my exhaust. My last truck had side exiting 40 series flows on it and it was chest rattling loud. The tips came out in front of the rear passenger side tire so it would just blast the car next to me.

I think jon over in memphis is still working on a dyno day meet or he said he may come up here since he's looking at buying an HKS exhaust. Maybe we can all meet somewhere and grab something to eat and talk about cars. Or if you want to meet up sooner let me know.

Did you happen to go to carpalooza yesterday? If so, was it any good?
I have relatives down for the 4th this year and couldn't go. But last year I entered my truck and it won best truck:

I sold it this spring so I could get the z.
