Apexi N1's vs. HKS Hi Powers?

Anyone prefer one over the other? Why? I am getting turned off to the HKS because their Ti = a titanium tip and nothing else, why would I drop the extra cash to have a blue tip? Also, are there any other universals that people like?

Well HKS actually sells 3 mufflers, the regular hipower (all stainless), the carbon-ti (ti tip and carbon wrapped steel canister), and the hipower-ti (all titanium)...at least thats how I have always interpretted it.

+1......Glad I didnt buy it before I researched it...Would have waited 3-4months to get titanium tip instead of a full titanium exhaust like it was advertised on a site... :icon20: :icon20:

Though, they do still have a great sound to them, as far as universal mufflers go I haven't heard better, which is why I'm looking for more input on other mufflers.

True..Ive heard clips..very nice sound...Im looking into how much it would cost for me purchase the titanium tubes and have a shop make the dual titanium piping and use the HKS ti mufflers..I want the weight savings of titanium but want to see if I can also save my wallet too, though fabricating can be pricy as well...well see:icon44: Waiting on a quote from a titanium pipe distributor...If its reasonable Ill just have a shop mandrel bend them into the right shapes and weld on the flanges...Sounds simple but Im sure there will probably be problems along the way..there always is..lol

The HKS Hi-Power Ti Dual is best exhaust for the Z, in my opinion.
I've heard it and compared it at a Z meet in Houston.
The Invidia and the Amuse would be the runner ups.
The HKS is the one i'm planning on purchasing (they're on serious backorder right now)

As you thought, it's definately not as simple as it sounds, once on paper. Unless you're set up with the apropriate welding equipment and environment, titanium is less than ideal to create an exhaust system out of. You could use clamps for the whole system...but good luck trying to find a shop that will weld titanium, since argon or helium gas shielding is needed on top of a few other things. Also, you'd need to have hangers welded to the piping, or come up with some other way of mounting the piping. Just a heads up.

imo go SS and forget about it
if u need to shave like 10 lbs off the car just wear less clothing and lose a few lbs and stop stressing the exhaust
