MREV+ Dyno Tested On The 287 HP Engine!
Hi Guys,
I've recieved a million requests asking if the MREV can be installed on the 287 HP engine. Unfortunatly I had to turn them all down because the MREV is simply a spacer with a lower plenum from the 287 HP engine. ...So if you have the 287 HP engine, all you need to do is install a spacer and you automatially have a MREV. But you know of that machining process I have been doing to the MREV+ lower collectors to allow for more air flow?... Well, I dynod it on a 287 HP engine and it made surprisingly good gains. ...Very interesting results! 1) Dyno of stock plenum on a G35 Sedan. (basically the same 287 engine with a a little more restrictive exhaust) 2) Dyno of 5/16" plenum spacer 3) Dyno of only a modified lower collector (with no spacer) 4) Dyno of a modified lower collector (with spacer) What is so interesting to see is that the machined collector, by itself, outperformed the 5/16" spacer! ...not in peak power, but it clearly added more area under the curve and more torque! The modified lower collector was then dynod with the spacer. The two symbiotically worked together to make even better gains. The 287 lower collector modification works in a way the spacers and plenums dont. (for 287 engine or as a MREV+ mod for the REVUP engine.) Analysis is done! In addition to area under the curve, it will kick up the peak HP by about 4-5 HP. Well since the spacer was about $260 and gave me 11hp and the machining process is only going to add 4hp then is should cost about $96 :icon17: ...wouldn't it be nice if it worked this way?

I am all stock on my 287.. So it would probably be worth it to me if it wasn't very expensive.

If no other mod is used, the MMP by itself makes more than a 5/16" spacer. If a spacer is already installed, the MMP will produce another 65.7% of the spacer TQ gains And 55.9% of the spacer HP gains. So if you already have a spacer installed, the cost/gain ratio relative to the spacer is roughly the same. So you can consider this a linear extension of the spacer in both price and power. If you don't have any kind of plenum mod installed... MMP is the highest cost/power value by a very wide margin. |

It still looked like the spacer made more power than the MMP if they are installed separately. Did I misinterpret the charts?

The spacer makes more peak gains, but the MMP makes more area under the curve.
In other words MMP makes more average power. ...And thats what really counts. :) |

And nobody has reported a torque loss with a MREV+ on a non-revup because they have never been sold to non-revup customers. As of today, this is the first and only MREV+ to be installed on a non-revup engine. Also, (to date) there has never once been a dyno showing a loss of torque or HP with a plenum spacer. Scientific dyno test or otherwise.:) |
