Default Broken Bolt in plenium

Ok well as the title says, I some how snapped one bolt while installing the plenium spacer. It was one of the bolts that connect the lower plenium. Pretty much holds that metal piece in place. So I sent mail to Motordyne but they haven't replied in days, so I was wondering, would it be dangerous to drive the car? the other 5 bolts are down tight. I plan on replacing this bolt but was just wondering the situation I got myself into, and if it is bad.

sorry i don't have an answer for you, but out of curiousity, were you using a tourqe wrench? i'm getting ready to install a plenum spacer, and wanted to make sure that i am aware of everything before i get half the engine taken apart... i'll be using a tourqe wrench, but if you were and it still snapped....i'm scurred... :S

if its one of the 6 in the middle, you'll have a leak, but you prolly can drive it. remember, its inch-pounds, not foot-pounds.

hahah you guys knew exactly what I did wrong. I was reading it and it said 15, so I went just alittle harder then bam, broken bolt.

The install is pretty easy, it was totally my fault. It started raining as I was putting things back together and got sloppy. But I would rate the install on the same level as installing a CAI.

Question regarding the bolt tho. Will it rust? or is it exactly like the one that is being used.

I had the same problem when installing my spacer.. I just took a drill and a bit smaller than the broken piece and drilled into it, after that I put the drill in reverse and it came right out...

I can't seem to find this bolt, I tried the part number but came up with nothing. Anyone know the size of the bolt and such, and where I can buy a replacement.

I did the same thing. The quick fix is actually simple. Take a other bolt and put it through plenum upside down then put a nut on the end of it. The bolts can be found at Home Depot in a wide array of lengths. Take one of the bolts from the side and get ones that are a little longer so they go further into the lower plenum. When I put the shorter bolts in they tore out part of the thread because they were not long enough. As for getting it out of the lower plenum, you're on your own.....mine is still in there. The bolts are in the trays at Home Depot, you can also get one's with polished heads that make for a small but cheap engine bay dress up item. The bolts are like 20 cents. 10mm.

I think you are talking about a different bolt. The bolt that I am refering to is on the inside of the plenium. It holds the gasket down, which is attached to a bronze plate. There are 6 bolts and I broke 1 of those bolts.

if you are talking about the bolt that attaches the lower plenum to the manifold, aren't those oem bolts?

Yes they are, however I broke one, so I would like to find a replacement bolt for it. I tried Autozone and no luck so far.

Thanks for the help both of you. I just called and ordered 4 bolts in case anything like that ever happens. I can finally finish the install and start on my sway bars =).
