header's
people on this site with headers. which ones you have, and did they help out at all?. i was under the impression that the stock headers are already pretty good. why did you change them (just wondering). thanks for the info.
|
Headers do make power, but most people do not feel adding them is a benefit because they are a PITA to install. Generally, the cost to install is almost the same as the cost of the headers themselves in some cases.
|
sometimes headers loose hp or tq or both.
|
^Borla, yes. They were ****ty. However, I have never seen downsides to Nismo, Alphawerks, Strup, Crawford, etc. especially with them 'losing' power.

http://www.streetneeds.com/uploads/ecza/time1340.jpg If you remove and inspect the OEM exhaust manifold (lying on the ground) you will wonder how any exhaust gets out of the damn thing: its terribly restrictive. Does a 350Z with headers run better than one without? My time slip is above. You be the judge. |
These are arguably the best headers out there for the Z and G. Each set is handbuilt to order.

See www.crawfordzcar.com for more info. http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/8391/engine11vm.jpg :) Just a reminder, we have made the prices more competitive for our headers ($981) and can offer jethot above our standard coating (above pic) for an additional $175 and we charge a flat rate of $400 to install. No additional charge for high flow cat install if done at the same time. :icon38: |
I noticed an improvement in sound and power after I installed my headers. The only other mods I had at the time were K&N drop-in/z-tube and 5/16 spacer. Now that I've got HFCs and a true dual exhaust, my car had really woken up...
...and I'm not even running lean. :D Oh yeah, 2003 G coupe 5AT |

I heard the crawford headers are made from inferior metal and rust over time.....
but I got topspeed and thier was a big gain with testpipes on them, when the testpipes off, alot of the gain I "felt" was gone. the stokc exhaust manifold sucks and people are fooled sometimes becuase there is an outer layer that makes them look bigger. they suck in comparison. |

Im running Alphas---Couple hours to install. I think best gains are when ur FI, NA I dont think Id bother cuz stocks are pretty good and NA likes a little back pressure.
|
I bought DC Sport Headers....not in yet, but I'll keep you posted. Getting plenum spacer and UTEC installed and tuned for my nitrous at the same time. Gonna be hard to see gains from one specific item without dynoing it right after install (which SGP probably won't do without a fee). For as much as parts cost for the Z, a $1000 for 18hp in the midrange is a fair trade IMO.

I have the Nismo headers (coated by jethot) and they made a big difference with my set up. The car just takes off at about 3k rpm like it never could before. The acceration feel much 'swifter' too. I would recommend them.

I have the DC Sports headers on my car and it was a night and day difference when compared to stock. Pulls really hard in the midrange and top end.
|
As with Sr. Panza, I have the NISMO Headers along with the NISMO CAI and NISMO Exhaust. I definitely feel more power and definitely a great sound. Excellent.
|
Oh, never mind......
|
I have DC Headers, 5'16" ISO, test pipes, HKS hi power, AEM intake, and UTEC tuned by GT motorsports. I felt a LITTLE pull
about 6 days later after drivin around.. I am now considering the turbonetics ST |
