Borla Exhaust Claims 16-20 Hp Increase Nismo Claims 6.5 Is Borla That Much Better?
Hey guys. I'm looking at an exhaust plus jwt pop charger as my first upgrades. everywhere i read pretty much says that jwt consistently will give you 6.5 horsepower. But when i did some reading about exhausts i looked at borla because it sounds best to me and nismo because its made by nissan. They are almost the same price (nismo is actually a little more) but borla claims to give you 16-20 horsepower while nismo only claims 6.5. Is borla really that much better? And if so and I get it will it void my 3 year warranty on my 05?

search search search....you can't go by those numbers because for example...they could take the lowest stock dyno on a really hot day...and then a best dyno with the exhaust on a cold cold day. blah blah..factors like that...search for actual dynos done by members on the board to get a better idea...and nothing will void your warranty unless it has caused your car to not work or something.

it will not and shall not void your warranty unless you take it in because your exhaust caused a weld to break somewhere above it or something directly to it goes bad. example, if you take it in for a bad throttle sensor or something not linked to it they cant say "because of your exhaust we cant fix this" its against the law for the dealer to outright void your warranty. a rep has to come and prove that what you did voided the warranty.
as far as borla being better i cant say, but i can say that putting my borla TD on has been my best bolt on to date. some people say they never felt a difference but i truly did feel more pull from it. |
ill be honest, I hate the way my borla looks and honestly want a more agressive looking exhaust but I got the sickest deal on it I couldnt not buy it. The performance is there. I didnt feel anything with my intake or test pipes but immediately could feel more power as soon as I got the borla. NA its a very good exhaust.

sorry to say but testpipes is the best bang for your buck as far as HP goes..

Never believe what a manufacturer claims

I had a nismo a while back, IMO for N/A and the $$$ you cany go wrong with this exhaust. The fit and sound were amazing. You can install this your self in 30min, perfect fit. Your probably get about 6 ponies out of it. Borla has to many parts to it, more parts = more possibilities for exhaust leaks. Test Pipes are the best bang for the buck, you'll get another 6 ponies out of those two. Emissions..... C'om on guys theres always ways around that. :)

man screw exhausts. They produce nothing. Get yourself a turbonator and a chip and you will far and away make more HP than most of the other members of this board.

damn you guys , give this guy a break . get nismo man very nice exhaust and quality , you know ???? all about the japs made .

I don't want a turbo. To unreliable. I would love the power but my z is my main car, not just a weekend driver. So is there really any difference in hp gains between the borla and the nismo? Because i actually think i like the sound of the nismo a little better but would def go with the borla if it could get me 16-20 hp. Hell even 10

They didnt say turbo. They said to get a turbonator. You could even buy two if you want real power!

Has anyone here used the turbonator before? Does it actually work? Will it work with aftermarket intakes, such as AEM CAI?

of course you can use it with aftermarket intakes. You just need to measure the intake diameter and match it up with a turbonator that is of equal size. out of all the modifications I had done to my car prior to going Twin Turbo, the Turbonator was by far the best and most effective modification. I gained a solid 33 whp and an astonishing 41 TQ with it. It was like a whole different car.
