disconnected muffler, SOUNDS AWESOME!
WOW, what a difference, I disconnected the pipe from the muffler (the muffler and exhaust tips still hang there) and the sound is deep and loud! sounds real good at idle too. very pleased. 0$ cost
my question is how do I remove the now hanging muffler and exhaust tips, my dad says it looks difficult and left me on my own, I don't care about looks, I just want the weight reduction and plus air flow will be even better flowing with this off. and what about the midpipe hanging there, will it be okay? |
The exhaust is on rubber hangers. I think one can bolt off and the rest you have pull off. Use WD-40 to make it easier. It looks like they will be a pain.
I am just buying 2 2.5" exhaust flanges and a gasket and making a cutout I can remove whenever. |
I did that also to see what it sounded like about a week ago and took it down the street but i still rather wait to get a nice exhaust cause i try to keep my car as far from gheato as possible. It does sound pretty bad a** though.

it is bad azz sounding, I think there is a thing you can buy to reconnect the pipe with the flip of a switch. I read about it in another forum and my friend is getting it for his camaro on the drag stip
|
hmm, this sounds like a good idea.. any write-ups on it? Also would it take away from performance at all, and how hard would it be to return it to the stock setup?
-thanx |

i know it might not represent it fully... but do u have any sound clips?
|
i'd have to record it first with my digital cam, which i am doing; and then somepeople would have to tell me how to post on this website the video (i have no clue)
but trust me its great, sounds deep and loud, not like a honda at all |
I've been talking about it on another thread. I like the sound alot and have video (analog video) at WOT on the street. A friend is going to try and edit the video so I can post it. It sounds pretty sweet.
I also have a short video taken with my Digital still camera. First is the sound of the stk exhaust, then the muffler unbolted and a few revs. I'd have to give it to someone to host though. Will keep you guys posted. Here is the other thread. |
can someone give info on how to disconnect the muffler... and how to remove the resonator... thanks guys!
|
To unbolt the muffler you just have to remove the 3 nuts that connect the mid-pipe and muffler and pull them apart.
The resonator needs to be cut off and be replaced with a pipe. |
what about one of these
these are q-tec cutouts from the clubgp, would this be a good idea??? with the push of a button it opens up and u have straight pipes
