Forged Performance & Sharif - I'm calling you out

What did you guys do? You guys have made me more agitated and ... well beyond belief. No words can describe how I'm feeling right now. You got that right.

I'm so hyped up. Thanks for finding the time to tune my car. You have did a wonderful job. I'm really happy now :)

FYI, for those that don't know.

My car is a 2003 Infiniti G35C 5AT.

Stock with a CAI, Dynoed 222.9 at Sharif's Grand Opening day.

After a while and these mods:

P&P Upper Plenum, MD 5/16" ISO Spacer, MD MREV2, TS Headers ceramique coated, 2.5" True dual Headerback with HKS Hi-Power Mufflers, and UTEC.

I brought it to Sharif for tuning.

Sad thing is that it dynoed 226whp before tune (:icon22: We couldn't explain why it's that low. Sharif mentioned that many other factors may cause a certain % in difference: One of the reason it could be is that I had worn out 275-30/R19 Nitto555 when we dynoed stock and I just changed to 285-35/R19 T1-R recently which was bigger and heavier. See edit comment below)

Aftertune, 239whp. The car definitely responses a lot better.

Thanks for making me a happy customer.

However, the reason I'm feeling agitated is because after a talk with you, I now want to go FI. :icon14:

I don't have a scan of my dyno because my scanner just broke on me. I do have a scan of the stock car though.

Stock with CAI

Edit: I just think of something else that may have cause the drop in power when all of the mods combined. I have too much intake mods that actually harm the air flow.

Alone - The CAI was good because I know that my idle time was okay (~750rpm) and that I made good power (see the graph) for a stock car.

All together - CAI + 5/16" spacer + Mrev2 = too much opened-intake body that causes an excessive flow and results in a lower idle (<600rpm) and loss in power, hence the low 3whp gain overstock baseline before tune. Will try for a shorter tube and see what happen. :)

Do it!

Wired 24/7 Nov 11, 2006 03:18 PM

some cars just have less compression and worse leakdown from the factory, it can manifest itself in slightly lower dyno numbers

glad your ride is tuned though, tuning does feel good ;)

do it, do it, do it

Wow... somewhere from $2000-$4000 for 16 rwhp. :icon22: Makes me wonder why we even bother. I'm glad to hear Sharif got you on the right track though. :D

it could be that or his combo of mods that are more look and sound also then tested for peak performance.

I was gonna be all like :icon43: :icon22: to the dyno numbers, but then I saw you're a 5AT. So:D  :skidmark:

I do not have the answer to that as my car was stock back then and when it dynoed, he didn't have the Intake filter's sensor or something on, therefore, it may cause a shift in RPM. Sharif may have better explanation :)

does the 5at typically dyno that much lower than the 6 speeds?

I know it's lower than 6spd, but don't know how to compare as this is on Sharif's DD dyno and not the Dynojets. He did mentioned that for a fair comparison, add 10% to it and it'll be closer to Dynojet's number that's everyone's having.

So 239 x 110% = 263whp on a Dynojet I guess.

Sharif also stated that he had a 6MT Revup with Popcharger, TP, and exhaust dynoed about the same.

Then again, number doesn't mean anything. I'm happy with what I got. :) But still not happy enough. FI is next. :)

wat exactly do they do when they ''tune'' ur car? Would I benifit from a tune by shariff if I only have an HKS exhaust on a stock Rev-Up engine?

-thanks-

check the tuning forum, and the top 100 questions thread.

to answer your question: no, don't bother with tuning if you only have an exhaust. wait until you get more mods or don't bother at all

Luv2XcelR8 Nov 13, 2006 11:10 AM

Well cant I get more horsepower from a tune even on just a stock engine? Like 15 more hp?

widebody350 Nov 13, 2006 11:35 AM

not really and definately not 15. if you want you can get an ECU reflash or you can wait to get some mods then do a custom ECU reflash. If you are looking to make some real hp with your Z then all of you mods should be supporting mods for a form of FI which would not include a tune or reflash.
