05 Z Roadster + AEM Intake = Car Won't Start ?
As the title states... I just installed an AEM Full-Length Cold Air Intake into my '05 Z Roadster, and now the car won't start.
The lights, windows, top, and dash instruments work fine, so the battery isn't dead.. but when I turn the key, the car *starts* to start up, and I can see the oil pressure reach a normal level, but after about 2-3 seconds, the car stalls, and the pressure returns to zero and the car $hits the bed. I can move a total of about 6 inches every time I try to go anywhere. I've got an Automatic, so it's not that I'm not starting the car correctly... Could it have anything to do with having the battery or mass airflow sensor unplugged for a long time? What about having the front of the car jacked up for a few hours? Fluids being tilted? It's no different than parking on a hill, though... I definately plugged the mass airflow sensor back in when I was done... but I can check that again, too. Any ideas out there? Obviously, any help you can offer me will be GREATLY appreciated! ~Ryan, PA |
When you start, does it take off wildly and rev like crazy? But if you installed it, check any sensor that are up the intake, namely the MAF

Thanks for your reply... I meant to edit out the post...
Problem solved... I popped the hood, disconnected the battery, unplugged the MAF sensor, blew on it like an old Nintendo cartridge, plugged it back in, connected the battery, and the car started with no problems at all. My guess: The MAF sensor was not connected fully, or there was debris in there. In any case, I'm up and running! I am mildly disappointed that I can't really hear or feel a difference in the car, though. My '04 Eclipse GTS had a satisfyingly powerful "whooshing" sound while it was running, and an equally satisfying exhale of breath when I turned it off... I get none of that on my Z. Should I re-evaluate, or am I being picky? Thanks again! |
