I don't have a sound clip right now but I can get one if someone can host it. (Its a unique and extremely loud sound)

As for the check engine light, it will not come on because the turn downs are connected to the cats.

The horsepower is great! :D I personally could not feel a difference in power and actually it felt slower but I raced two 350's on Saturday and ran away from both of them. You can ask Swisha350z about the power difference.

BlackZ33 Jun 2, 2003 11:03 AM

cool!
How far did you pull away from them ?

Save a lot of weight too huh ?:p

So I don't think you can run this setup on the street though

COOL!!! :D

Pics from rear ?

stx Jun 2, 2003 11:19 AM

I was able to pull approximately two cars at about 100 mph. With my other mod I really pulled on both 350's.

It saves some weight no alot though because I left my muffler and
premuffler on the car.

I don't have a pic from behind because you can't see the turn downs because I have my muffler in place.

Nice, what other mods do you have?

You can host the sound clip on Yahoo isn't it?

toykilla Jun 2, 2003 04:08 PM

im sure it doesnt sound like a v8, but does it sound like rice civics and such? (blah)
i would be interested in this possibly

You will gain 4 hp... This has been dyno'd locally.

BlackZ33 Jun 2, 2003 04:27 PM

oh...:(
4hp isn't much compare to the power aftermarket exhaust systems then...

Thought it was a good setup for track...

Cool idea though :o

I will get some sound clips and host them as soon as I can. It definitely doesn't sound like a fart can but your right not like a V8, its unique and deep.

I don't know about 4 hp gain because Swisha350z's 350 and my car were the same and we couldn't pull on one and another. With just the open exhaust I can pull on him like I said about two cars at about 100 mph. I don't think I would pull like that with only four additional horses. I may be wrong though.

My other free mod is I removed the air compressor belt. With no A/C belt and the open exhaust I just run away from other Z's. I mean big difference in power even though the butt dyno doesn't feel like it. I will try to get a current baseline and then dyno with this setup to see how much power I make from baseline.

BlackZ33 Jun 2, 2003 09:30 PM

Looking forward to your new post

franklinz Jun 3, 2003 10:32 AM

gotta love texas! :D also stx, do you know anything about joining the military and whether or not your vehicle has to abide by other states emissions/smog laws if said vehicle is registered in texas???
joining the air force and i was just wondering...

Franklinz, I don't know how that affects you in other states. You can have turn downs welded to flanges so you can remove them and reinstall the Y to pass inspection.

I can't see how this would make a difference. The A/C compressor should be clutched meaning that it is only turning when the A/C is on. The pulley may turn but, the compressor will not be engaged until you turn on the A/C. The downside is you run the risk of hurting the A/C system since the seals do not get lubricated unless the compressor is running.

stx Jun 3, 2003 03:01 PM

You get horsepower because even when the A/C clutch is disengaged its still has weight on the crack. If you don't believe me try turning it by hand with the clutch disengaged. I tried it by hand to see and I couldn't turn it thats why I decided to try it to see if it made a difference in performance.

Here is the link to the sound clips.
