nooooooooo not my Volks. There somewhere between here and heaven lol:rolleyes: Hopefully soon however, my Nismo Headers have arrived. Obligatory pics below haha. I haven't decided on what cats to go with yet but I am leaning towards Berk's product.

Haven't decided on coating the headers or not either. Getting a lot of mixed reviews. The Z isn't tracked and they seem pretty sturdy.

One other thing, the instructions indicate 2003 however, the date stamped on the headers is November 8, 2006. I take it these are just old instructions that were printed awhile ago given the engine between those years shouldn't of had any changes here.

Pic time...enjoy. The last one is hawt :D

Those look slightly different than the nismo headers I bought a yea ago (mainly the welded nismo logo is different) are they still made by BB?

I suggest jet-hot-I was very pleases with their coating

Risky_Business Nov 29, 2007 10:42 AM

Hmmm

what all was different for you besides the logo? These were purchased from the Z store. They always seem to come out on top for me btw, as many have mentioned in the past. Thanks guys/gals over there...

Although it's hard to tell from your photos, the general design and shape looks to be the same. Here are some pictures of mine:

Hey....

thanks for the support Reality...2008 is going to be a good one. Was it you who mentioned you passed on coating your headers?

Ps. 99% sold on the Berk cats...:)

hope to see some before and after dynos.... headers are still somewhat of a mystery item when it comes to HP gains. I've seen some WEIRD AFR effects after putting headers on, I think (personal opinion) you need tuning to take advantage of them.

if you could do that with a little write up, it would be of great benefit to the Z community

Very nice headers! You'll really enjoy them once they're installed!! I was going to Jet Hot coat my headers, but then ended up going with traditional header wrap instead. My engine bay temps are no hotter now than when I had stock manifolds... Although I don't know how traditional header wrap would compare to jethot coating...

JotHot quoted me $289 for coating. Shipping + insurance would have raised that price substantially. Traditional header wrap cost me about $140 locally. That included 2x50' roles of wrap, stainless tiedowns, and wrap sealant.

Edit: Mine are DC Sport Stainless Headers. AJ at Perf Factory installed them. I can't say enough good things about him. Top rate guy!! :-)

How does Nissan feel about these and the factory warranty?

Wow I have miles and miles of that kind of wrap in my lab at UCLA. It works great for any heated stuff. It works even better if you wrap something reflective around it, and another layer of the wrap. Of course that is getting into diminishing returns, but the reflective layer makes a difference. Headers can get to high temperatures where they start to radiate infrared heat. Reflective insulation traps radiative heat better than the wrap (the wrap is to prevent convective heat loss) and keeps your exhaust hotter. Just a thought.

Depends on what warranty service you need done and whether or not the headers caused the problem.

check the top 100 questions thread for warranty information.

chances are, if you replace the headers and you have a problem from the headers back, they will not warranty anything. but they would have no reason to deny warranty service on, say, your electric seats ...

G87z Nov 29, 2007 05:42 PM

I just installed the nismo headers. It was really not that hard at all. I am currently in the process of installing the nismo cams. You will need a nice set of wrenches and extensions and swivels. Now I am prettly mechanically inclinded so maybe it seems easier. Now putting the cams in with the motor in the car is another story. :) Labor intensive.

Yes I understand that. I was referring to the possibility of a powertrain related problem not being covered under warranty due to the headers. I saw somewhere that S-tune was ok, R-tune was not.

I know popular belief is that the dealer has to prove that the aftermarket mod caused the problem, but let me assure you, I work at a dealership, and that is not the case. Warranty repairs are scrutinized like you wouldn't believe. Sometimes corporate evens requires the defective part be returned to ensure parts aren't just being replaced on a whim. I am just curious as to Nissan's standpoint on these issues, if anyone has firsthand experience.

Thanks for the effort though.
