New to Z's. Want to upgrade my exhaust. Suggestions?
 

First off, I have been surfing through this forum looking for ideas, but I don't know what to begin to look for. I thought it'd be best to make a thread and let you pro's come to me. I am 22, been driving a used 2003 Enthusiast for 6 months now. I installed a JWT Pop Charger as soon as I bought the car. In my 2003 civic, I bought an aftermarket exhaust off ebay a few years back, replacing all piping from the down pipe and I loved the way it sounded. I sold that car to help pay for the Z.

I already love the way the Z sounds, but I wouldnt mind having it sound just a little louder and race-like. Read about test pipes and wondered what their prices were and which/where to buy? The Z is my only car, every day driver for me. I am a college student. So suggestions on test pipes or full exhaust, or at least where to begin looking would be appreciated.

before other people say it, search.

some names to start with are nismo, HKS, x02 (HKS knock off), well really depends on price range. if price is no issue, amuse (i think its like 2-3k or something). HKS is 1200ish, and the knock off is like 400-500, but i've read some issues with it. It's a knock off, you get what you pay for, but alot of people say its really worth the money.

Personally, in summer when i get the money for an exhaust, ill be going for HKS, and maybe consider nismo.

just cut the muffler off and go straight pipe.

Also check out Bassani... Thats the one I am considering. I'm also going to look into the HKS.

I have nismo, my car is a DD, love the sound, just like stock except louder, never burbly, very smooth, LOVE IT.

Thanks for the reply fellas. Money will be tight for right now. Prolly cant even spend $1000 on it after it's installed. My civic exhaust was only $200 shipped to me and we installed it. Guess that's what I get when I buy a sports car lol. I know you get what you pay for, but I may have to buy something cheap and hope for the best.

You should also look for used pieces members are selling.

Exponentially mind boggling. I've been thinking of different combos for 5 days straight....

do not buy ebay garbage.

x02 is a ebay brand isnt it? or the x02 knockoff. those sound great, and people think there pretty well built.

Try to go out to a local meet and hear what is on other people's rides.

Sound clips on the internet usually don't do the exhausts much justice.
