Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but I was wondering why everyone reccomended the 5/16 spacer as opposed to the 1/2. From dyno charts it looks like the 1/2 has every advantage. Only drawback I can see is needing a new strut bar to clear it. Just wondering if there was any drawback in performance as opposed to the 5/16. Thanks

The 5/16" spacer makes a higher average power where as the 1/2" makes a higher power at peak. So which is best depends on how you drive.
Since the G35 doesn't have a strut bar, you could go with either one with good results. And the 1/2" spacer has a nice induction sound.
However on the Z, keeping your stock strut bar is a big reason to go with the 5/16" spacer.
If its any indication of my preference, I have the 5/16" spacer on my Z.

Also if you add the cost of a new strut bar to the mix too it loses some of the appeal of the 1/2 unless you want to spend a lot of make the engine bay look better. I went with the 5/16 too on the advice from Hydrazine too. Will install it next week
