January 1st 2009 HFC'S Illegal for sale in California!!!

<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->
<!-- google_ad_section_start -->As of January 1st 2009 all OBDI catalytic converters will be illegal for sale in the state of California. Period, no if ands or buts, no loop holes.

Bottom line, since magnaflow/carsound is located in California they will not be able to sell the cats to anyone in California. None of their dealers will be able to sell to you if you are in California. We (Fast Intentions) will not be able to sell to you if you are in the state of California. I know it is short notice but if you are in California, you have one day to buy these cats. After that good luck.

The good news is the other 49 states in this country do not fall under this law. This is coming down from B.A.R.(Business of Automotive Repair) and CARB.(California Air Resource Board)

I just thought I should put this little bit of information out there for all of you. As we are not pleased about this either, we don't have any choice but to comply with it. If anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to ask...

Thank you, Tony

Ohh wait I do :( Thats a load of BS! When there is a will theres a way! What about TP?

Edit: I think thats misinformed because what about off road racing? You still would be able to buy it for "off road use only" I think you mean They cannot be on a car that is driven on the streets

Changvi Dec 30, 2008 05:16 PM

I'm not in CA but, I am curious if cars that already have them installed would have to remove them.

diwun67 Dec 31, 2008 12:34 PM

Wow. Why is Cali so anti-car? Must be all the hippy liberals out there  Time to just gut your factory cats :D

Sensi09 Dec 31, 2008 12:35 PM

Can't you sell HFCs and label them for track use only?

If it's illegal to sell, then how are test pipes sold in cali and everything else not designated for "street" use.

OldDirty Z33 Dec 31, 2008 01:06 PM

^ thats what I said! Everyone seems to ignore my post lol. Who cares its impossible top say you cant sell HFC to Californians.

I don't understand how OBDI cats covers HFC. These are two completely different things. As long as the Cats pass smog. They are legal. CA can't and won't put a regulation on a name. That is all "High-flow Cats" are, is a name. It's not like they went through he magnaflow catalog and said "that looks illegal". It is all based on emissions and smog tests.

And yes, any old HFC that won't pass the new standards can be sold for "off-road use only".

I'm not trying to say FastIntentions is trying to use a scare tactics for end of the year sales, but it does look like it was headed in that direction.

Besides OBDI and OBDII has to do with how the car reads its sensors, not how things are built. If a catalytic converter is built in such a way that does not throw emissions codes and passes the current smog standard, then it is legal.
