Berk HFC's caused a check engine light
So I have the Nismo Dual intake, HKS Hi-Power exhaust, and Berk HFC's. A few month's after installing the HFC's, I had the check engine light pop up with the catalyst code. Is there a way around fixing this instead of buying headers? I went to Ptuning in Manassas and asked about tuning, but I was told the best and cheapest thing to do would be to buy headers.

Buying headers won't make your CEL go off. It sounds like they were just trying to sucker you into spending money on something that won't fix the problem.

Then the catalytic converters are not doing their job. Get some non-foulers and call it a day.
|
non-foulers ftw
|
Berks have built in non-foulers.
|
just stuff steel wool inside the built in non fouler, thats what i did for my test pipes.
but now reading this i wonder if i should do the same for my Berk HFC's that i just installed yesterday(no lights yet) |
I also had this problem, but the weird thing is that my CEL came on about 7k miles after I installed the berk hfc's..
well anyways to fix the problem I stuffed steel wool into my O2 sensor plugs and it helped, but the CEL came back after about 400 miles. Now I'm just used to seeing the CEL on my dash, so I don't bother anymore. :) Come inspection time I just reset my ECU using the pedal method.. |
^^ Same here. Around 6k miles for me.
|
If the light came on right after installation check and make sure your sensors are plugged in. I had one not fully plugged in and it caused a cel.
|
You have the exact same set up I'm trying to do.
Sorry for offtopic, but do u have any video clips? thanks. |

yeah the light came on a few thousand miles after install. Then a few weeks after the light came on, my z started running crappy. It was like the sensors remained closed or something
