tips to buying the 'correct' hfc's?

help me out with a little info here. I'm not asking 'what are the best HFCs??' or anything like that, I just want to educate myself on how the exhaust flow really works together and what kind of specs I should be matching up.

I have a bassani dual setup, http://www.bassani.com/part/350Z5.

the ID of the piping is 2 and a quarter inches.

I've been looking off and on for hours trying to find the inner diameter for the headers where they mate up to the cats. no luck there..

in a perfect world there would probably be HFC's that have the same ID as the headers on the header side, and the same ID as the aftermarket exhaust on the other end, but that is never the case.

I don't want to create any weird turbulence or add more rasp then I have to. What measurements should I be looking out for?

Anyone with the bassani setup satisfied with the HFC's they added care to chime in? Tony from MD want to chime in and give me a nasa-style explanation? : P

my goal is simply to add a little more mid range grunt, without going to test pipes or ART pipes, something I can pass emissions with still.

My vote is for Berk Technology HFC's. They are 2 1/4" diameter so it would be perfect for your Bassani exhaust. We have them in stock, so give us a call if you need anything :)

If i were you i'd go ART pipes instead(keep stock cats for inspection)

If not +1 on the BERKS, but im not sure you would pass with HFC's either

+1 on the ART.

My guess is that with "any HFC" you won't pass emissions with the combo with the exhaust. If you pass, its probably boarder line anyway.

With that said, I would just get ART, have fun with it and swap it off to stock during that one time of every two years. It is well worth it since you get to enjoy ART much more especially during daily driving where low end power counts more than high end.

Just my 2 cents, what you want is still up to you but you really don't need to have rocket science precision on the tubing dia.

+1 on ART pipe.... motordyne products are the best

guys, I appreciate the input, but some hfc's have carb stickers and are 'likely' to pass (not saying they will 100%). I don't want to run the risk of a random cop inspection or anything.

rich2342 Apr 8, 2010 12:46 PM

cops don't carry sniffers that im aware of..

You can gut your oem cats then..

they don't, but most cops are car savvy, and the smell of gas is pretty easy to detect :]

trying to keep it legal

U sure did nuthug on them ART pipes to now not get them. Anyways I also rec berks just bc u wanna keep the same ID of ur exhaust.

haha I'll 'nuthug' on most products from motordyne. innovation and advancement is great and I'll always support it, even if I don't end up using it myself.
