Crawford headers for 06-08 Z's

Anyone with an 06-08 Z using Crawford header??? I remember reading that they didn't fit the 06-08 Z's because the steering linkage was changed that year. I called Crawford and who ever answered the phone said they fit,but some of the people at these company's answering the phones don't really know swat so I'm coming to the experts.....

I don't know about the Crawford's, but the Tomei Type-II headers and test pipes for the DE's clear on the HR's no problem. I know, I ran 'em for a bit. With the Tomei's, and I'm sure any others that may fit, you'll have to use the test pipes as well. You will have to move one of the bolts around the center exhaust outlet on each side to an existing hole. No biggie. Here's a pic of 'em on the engine.

Crawford headers

Thanks for the quick rely Blue350zed.... When you say change the bolt around do you mean pulling it out one way and putting it in the opposite direction? If so isn't It still going to hit the the steering shaft turns?

That motor looks sexy!

Crawford or Stillen is the way to go. 10whp on the dyno, so good choice!

Motor is sekks!

No, look at the pic above and you'll see that on the center exhaust outlet, there's a header stud on both the left and right on top. You simply pull the stud out of the hole on the left, and insert it in the hole on the right. It would bolt straight up to the DE, but you've got to move it over to make it fit on the HR ( in the hole that's already drilled and tapped on the block). These headers and tp's, along with some other mods, helped me go from 254 whp to 308 whp on this car.

When mine were installed at Vinny Ten Racing they DID NOT clear on my 06. I did not get a chance to see myself where and what was in the way (wish I did at this point). Unless there is some variation in production at crawford, I don't think these fit 06 revup cars. From what I recall Vinny mentioned steering changes for 06+ cars but I have not been able to confirm differences myself. SGM was not aware of steering changes for revup cars when I spoke with them a while back and they have a revup car themselves so take it for what its worth.

Can't speak for 07-08 directly.

Good luck with your hunt.

bump for a possible answer. Looking at picking up a used set this weekend and need to know!

Crawford rep I spoke to said he doesn't know for sure but thinks the starter was moved on the newer engines and is now in the way.

Which headers did you go with?

Now when using those headers though he HAD to get the Test Pipes, or else the cats would not connect with out a pipe extension. So you can use DE headers, just gotta look at the length's.

true inasmuch as the Tomei headers are concerned but I doubt the Crawford will work due to the piping layoug

Right -- I'm not worried about the stud on the block. More hoping an HR guy out there has actually done this install, or knows for sure if the Crawfords will clear other components.

I know post is kinda old but, I was looking into getting either Crawford or Tomei Headers, Both seem to be top knotch. I know crawfords are equal legnth, and Tomei's are close to equal legnth. Has anybody done any before and after dynos comparing these two headers. I have the motordyne ART pipes in case it someone was going to go with a similar setup. Any reccomendations? I want to get the best performance header (without going longtube, due to the noise)? Im pretty sure gains are negligible, but even then.. for piece of mind i wanna know that i went with the best. Any suggestion or opinions are welcomed. Thanks in advance.

I would think that a shorty header + test pipes would be equally as loud as longtubes.

Both remove the cats, and both replace the stock cast-iron manifold with stainless tubing. The only difference would be the length of the primaries. And maybe the shorties are "curlier" at the front...which may actually make the shorties MORE difficult to install.
