Default Motordyne 5/16th Spacer install

Hey guys,

I just got my Motordyne 5/16th intake spacer the other day, and I plan on installing it within the next few days, but i have a few questions (that I have searched and couldn't find answers for) any answers, comments, and advice will be appreciated! Figured I'd come to a true enthusiast website to ask these questions and not get sarcastic answers.

1. Some friends with Z's say that since I will be running the spacer with the stock intake, i will not gain any power...

2. Should I get the car tuned with the spacer, like will it cause any problems? Or will resetting the ECU (disconnecting battery) do the trick.

3. Will it hurt, or improve fuel economy.. I'm not a gas Jew, but just curious

Thanks for your help guys

1. Maybe. even with an intake the gains aren't really noticeable. it just sounds cooler. get a jwt pop charger for $100 it will sound even cooler.

2.you should always reset the ecu when changing your car. it doesn't need tuned, you need to throw more money in it before you do that.

3. if anything it will help, but every engine responds differently. either way your not going to notice.

There is a thread on how to install the spacer i would search for it in the forum and review that. this is a simple mod.

Purchase some resonated test pipes.

You will feel the increase in power.

I've heard many good things about the ART pipes.

you have a 2006 as i do so you have the rev-up engine, here on another thread someone told me that in our engines the winning couple is the spacer with the motordyne mrev 2, i'll do that to mine in a few months, you can try that out...

I've heard that too, My buddy said we have a "better computer" that reacts better to modifications?

1) It will make the same gains weather you have the stock intake or an aftermarket intake.

2) You don't need a tune for just a spacer. A tune is for after you add a whole lot of modifications intake, plenum, headers, test pipes and exhaust. Then you will be ready for a tune.

3) Fuel economy doesn't really change.

The Nissan Sport Magazine dyno plots shown here is a comparison of various different plenum modifications. All the testing was done on a completely stock vehicle.

Yup, you'll get great gains from the pairing of the MREV2 and the spacer.

ART pipes are also worthy, no stupid rasp with a little deeper note and even power benefits over normal test pipes, you don't loose the pwr/tq low down like normal TPs do.
