help HKS Muffler weld stock piping??

alright people of my350z a friend of mine is gonna sell me a pretty good condition hks or apexi muffler but i wanted to eleminate the stock muffler and to do some custom piping by putting the aftermarket with the stock mid pipe!

so my question is will i see some gain in hp and torque?

will it be louder than stock muffler?

is it worth it?

ima install it myself cause i can weld.

i wanna know your opinion on this.

Everything about this sounds like a terrific idea

Custom piping back from the cats isnt much more expensive.

Find an exhaust shop and use the stock flanges (2.25in) into 2.5in mid pipe back to that HKS universal.

You'd need a few resonators to full eliminate rasp, but for the most part it'll sound great.

thanks man i got it new cause he had an accident so i wanna try it cause i wanted a single exhaust

The only thing you will get from the muffle is the sound. You will not have any performance gain. I mean if you weld, why not make a custom cat back piping instead of reusing the stock mid pipe?

well it sounds great,
i f'd up and burned a bit my bumper, but the only reason i wanted the muffler is because i wanted to drift my z so i am not looking for a full exhaust now i just wanted a little sound instead of the freaking quiteness in the car.

i had an invidia ni exhaust but tht was way to loud. now i got some free test pipes and im gonna install to see how it sounds, if it is too loud i will go with high flow cats.

it is nowhere near loud now but sounds kinda deep and i really liked it. gives a little personality to the z.

if you guys need any mechanical help on the z or g hmu i was working at a shop that specializes in nissan but i went my own way and started specializing in all the problems of the z and g! from the gas gauge lower control arms and just every little problem that goes with these cars. i will be posting up vids too, i do get alot of z and g's for servicing and repair so for the do it yourselfers

You needed a muffler to drift your Z?

no no no im messing with the stock exhaust and finding a way to accelerate faster.

it might just be me but i did notice that it did accelerate a little faster. take off used to lag. but i guess maybe taking the huge muffler and putting in a shorter muffler freed up tht exhaust flow. and when i put kinetix high flow cats it did start to accelerate even faster.

like i said i am just finding tht exhaust tht will actually do something i have had a few exhaust nd none where as great as this!

You're right. It's just you.
