Gutting HFC's
I'm getting a set of Kinetix hfc's for pretty cheap. I want them to help me get some volume out of my Fujitsubo exhaust.
Living in Cali I need to pass smog. Is it possible to gut the Kinetix? I want to keep the appearance of the stock cats. Then for smog I'll put the stock ones back in. |
Have you tried running them non-gutted? Seems like such a waste instead of just getting some resonated test pipes, which look like they have a cat in them if you're going for visual.

Honestly,sounds pretty stupid.
First, have yoou heard in person the HFC's you mentioned with the Nismo (its same as the Fujit)?I have Nismo S-tune.When I installed HFC's ,it is LOUDER.Don't know what you mean by more "volume",but it will be turned up.Furthermore,HFC'S tend to get a bit louder as they age. I sure would wait to hear the results before I gut anything. |
I'm running Kinetix cats with Invidia Gemini and it's just about perfect (for me, anyway). I don't like to be overly loud, but I definitely don't like quiet. Definitely should try them out before gutting.

It sure seems like a lot of work to put in high flow cats or test pipes and then have to switch them out for emission testing. Thinking I would just keep the catalytic converters and not worry about switching. Besides you are not polluting the air as much when you are running your cats.

No I havent heard them with my exhaust yet. Im hoping to put them in very soon. What I mean by volume maybe isnt volume...Im looking for a little more of a "growl". The Fujitsubo is a very quiet exhaust. Im not looking for obnoxious, just some thing a little meaner.
