Default TopSpeed Exhausts ?s

Right now I have a muffler delete setup welded to look stock. In PA, this will not pass inspection which is coming up in spring so I am looking at different exhausts to get. I have narrowed down to a Top Speed catback, but on conceptzperformance there are two different exhaust for the same price.
I found this exhaust... http://www.conceptzperformance.com/C...174.60.196.144 which I like the way it looks (HKS replica) for $500.
And I found this exhaust… http://www.conceptzperformance.com/C...814156.12.13.7 which I hate the way it looks (coffee can mufflers) also for $500.
The second link is only a y-pipe, but is the same price as the better looking catback. I see the y-pipe is 3" and the fatback is 2.5" but is that really where the price comes from. To me I don't see why I wouldn't get the catback because of looks and its a full cutback.
After looking at sound clips on youtube, I have found that both of those exhaust sound very similar, however there are many more of the Top Speed Pro1 exhausts out there than the HKS replica.
So can anybody vouch for whether the HKS replica is worth it because that is the one I am leaning towards.
Thanks, Craig

Cheapo exhaust systems.
How long do you plan on keeping your car?
More than likely, both will not fit perfect. Will need some mods to fit right.
Youtube clips can be misleading.Only true waytio tell the sound is in person.
Why not save up for some quality product.

Ok that is what I expected for the most part. The reason I don't save up for a quality part is because my personal fav exhaust is the Motordyne Shockwave and I think $1500 is an outrageous price, I would rather buy 3 TopSpeed exhausts and when one goes bad out a new one on.
I plan on keeping my Z for a long time and I know it makes sense to get a quality brand, but the only way I would do that is if I find a used one in good condition for a great price.

Good luck in your search for used exhausts, they're like ******, either their cheap and beat up or they're hot and real expensive. It takes luck to find one that's not beat up for a nice price.

i have the top speed pro1 exhaust and y-pipe. dont listen to them its a great exhaust sounds amazing and fits just fine with factory hooks. I get many compliments with it. I would never spend 15-2000 on an exhaust either. waste of money. youtube actually has a sound clip of my exact setup which sounds pretty similar. just youtube the pro1 exhaust. hope this helps

to me spending money on exhaust that sounds like crap, and poor quality that you will end up replacing is a bigger waste of money. not to mention you wont get hardly anything for it if you try to sell it

I have owned:

-HKS (authentic)
-Greddy (authentic)
-TopSpeed (the second one you posted)
-Motordyne TDX2 (current)

The Motordyne is definitely my favorite but the Topspeed is #2 in my opinion. It sounded great, fit great, and took a beating.

If I had to buy a new exhaust and I was short on money, I would definitely be happy with the TopSpeed again.

It sounds better than the HKS exhaust lol. its stainless steel so it doesn't rust. and it fits fine how is it crap? take care of it like you should any part on your car and you wont have to replace it. simple as that

i would rather get quality parts to begin with and never have to worry about replacing them. now i get that not everyone can drop 2200 for the art/tdx2 combo, get the best that you can withoug breaking the bank.

Well guys somehow right after I posted this a came across a used TopSpeed Pro1 HKS replica on Craigslist. It wasn't in perfect shape but like I said, used. I only paid $130 for a full cutback so personally I don't see where I could go wrong. And it seems to me that everyone that has owned the Topspeed exhaust has seemed pretty happy with it

People are passionate about what they put on their Z's along with all their other cars. You really can't worry about what people here think, it's you car and money. You buy what you can afford and don't let any one bully you into doing some thing you can't afford.

Me personally, I use replica parts. I can't afford motordyne or Volk wheels, trust me I wish I could but I can't. I'm not going to save forever just to make the people here happy. Even with replica parts I get so many compliments on my car it's not even funny. I've never had some one ask me " Is that a real HKS?"....they say " damn your exhaust sounds amazing".

Let's face modding a car is probably one of the worst things you can do with your money, it actually lowers the value in some cases. Keep it in your budget and in the end YOU will be happy.

Well as I said I picked up one of the exhausts relatively cheap.
I got it from a guy with a totaled Z.
As I said it was used, very dirty, and does have a fair share of dents and scratches.
Here's the pic of them extremely dirty.

Here's a pic of the tips and mufflers cleaned a little with NeverDull. They aren't perfect, in fact the tips are rather beat up but it was cheap.

Side Note: This exhaust has 4.5" tips, to me that seems crazy! Does anybody know how well that will fit under the rear bumper without melting anything?

Awesome. I will try to put up some pictures of it installed but I have to pick up a few exhaust gaskets before I throw it on

I had the Topspeed Pro1 exhaust. It didn't fit well and sounded cheap. I agree that I wouldn't spend 1500-2000 dollars on exhaust either, but a true Magnaflow exhaust basically fell into my lap, so I picked it up. It sounds 100X better IMO.

Here is a comparison of stock, Topspeed Pro1, and the Magnaflow

Thats a nice video to compare them. I don't think my HKS replica sounds like yours (your's seems to have like a flutter noise to it which does sound cheap)
My personal opinion of the TopSpeed HKS replica is that it is much quieter than my muffler delete was but it has a much better exhaust note. I absolutely love the sound mine makes but I would like it to be a little louder.
