NEW S-Tune Exhaust for Z33
This thread will cover questions and answers about the new (2017 release) NISMO S-Tune Exhaust system. (Created to move a question about same to this thread.)
Currently available from Z1: https://www.z1motorsports.com/exhaus...m-p-12120.html As well as most authorized distributors of Nissan/NISMO parts. Reason this was posted was someone asked about the new one and how it differs from the original (in the Marketplace). Observations (with no actual experience and based solely on quick research): The new S-Tune is a copy of the original S-Tune but made by a different manufacturer based on original specs with the exception of the mid-pipe-to-rear-muffler connection and the tips. New muffler flange is located in roughly the same location as the OE location. (Versus original S-Tune connection which is different from OE and requires use of the S-Tune mid-pipe or a rework (new pipe and flange) to make it work with OE pipe.) https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....6986d5b51c.jpg Tailpipe tips are adjustable - appears to use a V-band clamp versus welded connection. Also, the mid- and optional Y-pipe are polished stainless (versus natural on the original Weldina S-Tune). None of these changes should affect performance or sound I'm guessing. |
I wish the original had removable tips.
I feel like this is opening a whole new door of people just installing Nismo mufflers and saying they have a Nismo exhaust. |
I mean they are only fooling themselves lol

Just to clarify, this "new S-Tune Exhaust" IS a Nismo part. It is NOT an OE 07-08 350Z Nismo muffler which differs from the non-Nismo part in only a couple of minor details, not the least of which is the tips.
The original and this new S-Tune carry OEM Nissan part numbers and available through any Nissan dealer or authorized Nissan parts distributor. It IS "aftermarket" per se, with NO 350Zs (other than the Japan Domestic Market, non-USA genuine S-Tune Z) here in the US ever equipped standard with it. (Dealer option or over the counter only.) Main features of the S-Tune (versus OEM 350Z Nismo): larger diameter pipes from Y-Pipe to muffler and a fully engineered rear muffler, NOT a copy of the OE piece. If you put this one on, you DO have 2/3rds of a Nismo exhaust. (Y-Pipe optional and recommended.) |

Hi!
Does someone has this installed (the re-release with new tips) and can give a comparison of the "old" Weldina s-tune version? I did ask to Z1motorsport and they replied "the sound is similar but a tad quieter" Also i am very curious on how looks the tips once mounted on the Z since the Weldina one where double walled, isn't the simple tips looks too tiny? |

I just purchased the new s tune system including the y-pipe from Z1. It should be arriving soon and i'll post up pics

LMFAO was just trying to see the quality of my company here lol. I hate all that nonsense, fuel is supposed burn in the engine not exhaust. Z1 had a video of the new nismo taking off, I think it's an upgrade from the original, but I prefer the looks of the old one.

Finally since my stock exhaust broke on me suddenly, spent hours to research over internet but could not find any information except this post.
I did take the risk and ordered it from Z1 6 months ago delivered here in France. I did have issue with fitment bit off center exhaust pipes but overall quality is good though the design Is different from Weldina made Nismo exhaust. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....75cfefe90.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....33041635d.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....097fb5811.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....462cb5012.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....66df31db7.jpeg |
Did Z1 posted a video of their s tune on a 350z? Asked them countless time before ordering but they didn’t have any neither a picture of installed kit... they somehow admitted the sound to be “tad quieter” than the original, I did take the risk without reference.
finally I did the job and sent them my footage and videos: first engine run: static rev + POV driving flyby( with stock intake) from distance ( with nismo dual intake) |
Few Z enthusiast here in France we’re saying this is a fake ... because the engraved sign are different but in my opinion they didn’t know about this redux version knowing only the weldina japanese made weldina.
With my kit came a well explained notice and Nismo card for warranty, and I read all the little letters there to find the exhaust to be made by MXP branded exhausts, does someone heard about them? from my research they’re doing also similar built exhaust for the GTR around the same time https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....d1c8fa821.jpeg |
Good info Podam! This should help others make a decision. If I were doing it all over again (and I did on my Z34N), it'd be a no-brainer. I like Nissan original parts - despite the cost. This new S-Tune sounds pretty good, maybe a tad quieter than the original Weldina but I don't think anyone would notice.
Here's my question about a lot of exhaust systems in general.... Polished? Why polished? Who sees it other than when the car's on a lift or jack stands? Yet another thing to clean. Hahahahaha. <===Rhetorical question of course because it does LOOK great coming out of the box. :icon17: |
No, I messed up, the one they had the video of was the dual so I guess it's r-tune? I think the dual sounds pretty good.
