Default Y-pipes

Hey fellas. I picked up a nice Nismo S tune+mid pipe recently. Now I've got the itch to work my way up to the headers. So I'm looking at Y-pipes. I'm seeing via ConceptZ that pipes up and down the price range differ between the wide Y and the tight Y designs. The tight Y is practically a T. So the question is what's the difference between the two types. I'm planning to spend 200 bucks give or take and HFC's are next on the list.

For your budget I'd suggest you the ISR y-pipe. More expensive but excellent design are the Z1 or the Motordyne XYZ

I've also heard good things about the ISR y-pipe. I'm sure it's more reasonably priced as well.

I would advise against the Motordyne XYZ unless you absolutely need the mid resonator/ catalytic converter. I have one, and was not at all impressed with the fitment of the pipe to the cat/ test pipe, nor the exhaust muffler section, for the price.
I had to seal the resonated section of the XYZ to muffler section with high temp silicone gasket maker, because it simply would not seal all the way... And the other sections of my exhaust are not cheap pieces either.

Also beware that the Nismo s-tune mid-pipe has been known to crack, at least that's what I've read on here.

The Y-PIPE has been noted to do that... but only WHEN FITTED TO TEST PIPES, otherwise not so susceptible to cracking. Have never heard of a problem with the mid-pipe. I certainly don't have any issues (nor on my son's car)

Great input guys. The XYZ is definitely more than I'm looking to spend. Hell I picked up the r tune for 350 lol. So I'm looking at the ISR and topspeed. The topspeed looks to have a good finish with slightly larger flex joints. But I cant find any opinions about the y pipe alone. I might just try it. https://topspeedauto.com/nissan-350z...ce-mid-y-pipe/
