something's wrong with my car!!
ok. last night...i gave my friend a ride home. well...at 2nd i floored it...and the slip light came on...then soon after i put it in 3rd and floor it...and no response for like 2 secs then the car starts responding. well...at 3rd the car felt very very slow. on my way home...i tried it again...and difference reponse but the car stilll felt weak and slow. today...i try this again...and the car doesn't feel fast anymore. before this problem...over 4k rpm the car moved as i pressed onto the gas. but now...it moves very very slowly. i have to litterally floor it to make the rpm's go high. and also...when i floor it...rpm moves very slowly.
does anybody know what's going on here? btw...i took my car to the service on monday to get my audio and interior lights fixed. help!! |
You broke it! I'm just kidding. Can you go over 4000 rpms at all? My car went into "safe" mode one time about a year ago. I had little gas and had to slam on my brakes while on a hill. The car wouldn't accelerate past 4000 rpm after that ... i turned her off then turned her back on and she was fine again!

I think you have a similiar problem to what I have. Does your car do this in almost every gear? Is it consistent or does it come and go? It might be your BCM unit sending a faulty signal to your ECU which puts the car into the safe mode. I am bringing my car in soon to have this fixed. Although I am not quite sure if this is my exact problem but I definately have the same symtoms as you do and I know someone else who had this problem before and it ended up being his BCM. its the black box module located underneath the fuse panel. Also, what year is your car?

Originally posted by xchriz012x hmmm....i have a 2003. when i took it in for service the other day...the rep told me that one of the fuse were out of place, which indicates they did mess with the fuse box. i guess i'll have to take it in too. i have a CAI installed. do u think they'll say something?? |
could be the clutch goin...

reset your ECU, have you had tires replaced lately?... i know of a story in which some moron mounted the front wheels in the back and the back in the front and the VDC system went crazy and put the car in safe mode

definitely sounds electrical, if they messed with the fuses, the BCM controls the lights and other electrical devices as well as the ECU and could have shorted something. If you undo your battery neg terminal for 10 minutes and retry, does it do anything? If not, take it in to the same place and have them put it on the obdc scanner to check for codes.

when my car had trouble getting to 3k rpm, i followed the instructions here http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm
and my car was all better |
