Dealers Giving You the Runaround on TSB's

They'll say it only applies to certain VIN's in their computer. Of course, when they look up your VIN, the tsb isn't shown under VIN.

But if you look at the TSB itself, it does apply to the VIN's.

I've having trouble Getting Front Right Compression Rod replaced, and get them to fix the clunk from the front suspension.

Tom Peacock Nissan (houston, tx) held my car for two days, only to say the car was operating to spec.

well i guess it all comes down to one thing: it depends on the dealer. cause i have heard some nice stories of dealers going ahead and doing the fix even for cars that fall out of the VIN range as long as they still show the problem. dont know why dealers give such hassle about TSB's cause from the way my dealer explained it to me, they actually would rather do TSB work cause its like garaunteed money. No money is really ever exchanged its just written off on invoices on shipments when new cars are brought in and accounts are just accredited from NNA. that way they dont have to hassle with personal checks, credit card fees etc.....

Mine is a PITA about it. Really it's just my service advisor, the service manager is great. Mine claimed there was none for the seat and actually got pissed when I read him the TSB over the phone.

Same here and its with the service advisor. Took mine in for the rough idle and the transmission. Just got the run around " we'll document it, it idles as designed" ********. I believe they are just skeptical of anything obtained from the internet i.e. info , TSB's etc... Had a F-150 and info from the internet about a possible defect. Was told by the service advisor they dont pay attention to internet information concerning TSB's.

Sometimes i believe it comes down to just laziness. They dont want to do the work whether the dealership is credited or not.

exactly. I hope they're reading this.

Well what pisses me off is why does there have to be a TSB in order for them to do work? Does the warranty ONLY cover TSBs? I DONT THINK SO.

The service advisor at Serra Nissan (Birmingham, AL) told me today that "Just because there is a warranty, doesn't mean you get to replace your whole car 1 piece at a time". Nice huh? I have a bent (or out of round) front right wheel, my brakes are squeeling already at 23.4k miles, my right rear speaker is distorting/blown, my hatch doesn't open on 1st release, my CD player skips for 10 minutes when I cold-start the car, my engine grinds sometimes on start-up, and shifting from 2nd to 3rd grinds.

They are gonna replace my transmission and the hatch springs (thanks for that TSB I printed it and gave it to Jimmy, the service advisor. He said thanks, this has the part number on it.)

Everything else is apparently un-important, not under warranty, or he just doesn't care. I had to ask him to get up 4 different times so I could show him problems with my car. He really didn't like me being there, and paid no attention to anything I said. I will never buy another car from Serra Nissan, at any price. And I am putting that on my freaking review they are gonna mail me (like they did the other 12 times I got my car fixed under warranty already).

Ive actually started to do some fixes myself and plan on doing some others out of my own pocket to avoid the time wasted and frustration dealing with my useless service dept. Even though i have one of the sercice plans, I dont even let those dipshits change my oil. Whats crazy is that the fellow who owns the NISSAN dealership also owns the CHEVY dealership across the road and their service dept is outstanding.
