Trunk Release... release I said!
Anyone have any trouble with their trunk release? Mine goes off fine.. but about 1 in 3 times now it doesn't unlatch all the way. If I hit the button again, it will open.
The hatch isn't being pushed up or anything.. nothing in there but a duffle bag usually.

mine opens 50/50 usually. even worse in winter. I've read in another thread that there is a weight ballast below rear window, which can be removed. May be we need to do so?

Mine has definatly gotten worse over the last 2 weeks (real winter is seting in here).
And yeah.. I'm talking remote.. I rarely use the button just because I have the keys w/me all the time around the car.

It shouldn't matter whether you use the remote or not. Here's what's happening. (At least in my experiences)
If you listen closely you'll hear a click when it releases then another, faint click when it latches again. It's like a safety or something. you can probably notice that you can push it down and relatch it completely.
In my case this started happening when I added the NISMO spoiler. The additional weight prevents the lid from "popping" up past the safety latch.
If this only happens in winter for you it could be because it is cold the and hydraulic lifter things "slow down".
In either case removing the weight should resolve the issue.

Here's how to remove the weight:
First remove the plastic panel on the underside of the lid. You only need to remove the main panel (the lower piece). It just clips on but the clips are very tight so don't be affraid to put some muscle behind it. Don't worry the panel is very strong. You'll need to use a screw driver wrapped in tape (to prevent scratching) to pick up an edge. Once you can get your fingers under the edge, just pull straight down. The clips will "pop" out.
