Eibach's hurt ride?
 

I am contemplating going w/Eibach Pro kit at the same time I switch from 17" to 18" tires & wheels. My concern is hurting the ride quality with both changes being made at the same time. With over 14,000 miles on my Z, I have adjusted well to the current ride characteristics, both good and bad. Tell me, will ride quality suffer by going to the smaller sidewall on the 18"? Will the lowering springs exacerbate the porpoising we can get on the Z?
I am leaving on an 8,000+ road trip over 5 weeks shortly, and if the ride takes a hit from these changes, I could be in trouble on such a long trip.
If possible, I would prefer concrete experiences rather than assumptions in any replies given, . Thanks, Jim

Seriously, w/14k already on it and happily so, I am very much looking forward to the trip, but concerned about the multiple changes I am preparing to make to the suspension system just before hitting the road for 5 weeks. My problem is that I am getting a deal on the tires and wheels, but the deal must include the springs too. It is going to be used in a photo shoot for a major company and I need to give my answer shortly if I want to let them use my car with the gear all installed. Regards, Jim

Eibach's have a tendency to sag to one side pretty quick. I had eibachs before on my eclipse. Is there a reason why your changing your springs?

Well then, I guess it has to be Eibachs. Just watch out if you leave it on afterwards to see if it starts to sag.

Do you know if there is any kind of recourse if they do sag? Warrantee, guarantee, etc.? Jim

It looks kinda funny when one side sags, another thing is that when you go over bumps and dips the car doesnt feel safe it bounces around left to right. I just dont know about Eibachs any more, from my past experiences. My friends had Eibachs too, it wasnt just me.

The Eibach number is 1-800-222-8811. I have used their springs on two cars and found them to be honest. The springs lower the front .8" and rear1.2'. They claim it will improve the ride. It appears that the stock springs are not progressive and the Ebach are.

I think I am going to try the H&R when they come out in a few weeks. Anyone have experiences w/ those?

Springs sagging
 

We have a million mile warranty on the springs. Typically it's not the springs that sag. It is the install process, which seems to be the case 95% of the time. You need to preload the suspension during installation. If you have any questions please call our tech dept.

Hi Jim- Just spotted your post and wanted to comment. I've used Eibach Prokits for going on five years and have not experienced any sag. The ride (with 18" BBS and 245/40-18s and 275/40-18s) is probably 10-15% firmer than what the Z was like with OEM springs and 45-series tires. But I prefer the tighter feel and lower CG the Eibachs provide in handling.

One question: when you came out to visit Colorado back in ('04?), I thought you and Marilyn had already put on in excess of 50K. Your OP states 14K, so that doesn't make much sense. Hope our paths cross again someday!

I've had mine for only about 7 months, but they sit perfect - no sag issues. Ride isn't that much worse, although when on a freeway that has a bunch of buckles in the road it is a major annoyance. It's as if I'm hitting a pothole every few seconds. I also have 19" wheels and didn't upgrade my shocks.

LOL- just checked the OP thread date. This is WAAY old. Jim was down this road a long time ago...
