Jacked my car up @ the wrong place, now there's a huge HUMP!

I jacked my car up at the wrong point (FCUK!). It is near the front driver side. Now there's a sizable hump close to where the clutch pedal is. Apparently, the spot where I jacked it up is soft. The indentation from the bottom rose up to the top. Would there be any potential problems? How should I fix this? I tried using a hammer, but no luck. HELP! LOL

Remove carpet and hammer it back, any place that you take it to will more then likely do that. Once you reinstall the carpet the damage will not be noticeable.

Pull back the carpet and use a sledge hammer maybe....

Remove the carpet completely?

yeah, so you can see the indent in the actual metal. When you pound the hump out, use a piece of wood when you hammer, so you don't put a mallet direcly to the metal...that will just make it look bumpy in the other direction. The wood distributes the force over a wider area.

this is an idea i had cause i had some difficulty finding jack points. paint all the jack points a different color so you know where to place the jack and jack stands with a quick glance.

If it bent that easily, you should be able to hammer it back. Just hit it hard!

call it a foot-rest

kaybee650 Jan 8, 2007 06:53 PM

yea but you have 3200lbs pressing against the jack, so i dont know, wood will be your best bet along with a hammer...... good luck

yep did the same to my car... it wasn't a big deal to fix....get a metal plate (4" x 4") and place it over the indentation (on the inside of the car) and start hammering on the metal plate until the indentation goes away.

For some additional piece of mind, you may want to respray the exterior and interior with the black weatherproofing underspray.

speaking of, does anybody know where the front jackpoint is? I do it on side frame (that's where you're suppose to do it, OP). I heard that there was one.

Eazzy Jan 8, 2007 07:42 PM

Theres 2 notchs 2.5 inches apart that the jack goes between just in from the side skirts

it's about where the door starts and 21/2 in . 2 small dips about 1 in apart. or better yet take a look in the owners manual thats how I found them.

UnderPressure Jan 8, 2007 10:15 PM

I could take a pic, but it probably wouldn't show up (black carpet). I'm too tired to do it today...just put on my rims!

Yea, I might keep it, feels good when I step on it...custom footrest! hahaha JK

Does anyone know if the carpet can be remove without cutting in to it?
