Default safety question...

Im in Birmingham, AL on a little visit to the grandparents and earlier my Service Engine Soon light came on. Its saturday so all the service dept. are closed and I dont know a way to find out what the problem is. I turned off the car adn restarted to see if it was temporary but its still there. steady not blinking. Think it would be ok to drive 400 miles home?... probably not the best idea. Any suggestions on finding out what the problem is? and its not hte fuel cap haha

Sometimes the SES light is ON for the most benign reason like the gas cap. Sometimes the problem is serious. Visit AutoZone, and have them read OBDII.

Well the PCM said that a small leak exists in the evaporative emission control system. Sounds like it should be ok till i get back to get it all fixed. Thanks for the suggestion davidv.
