botched 3M clear bra install - HELP!!!

My dealer installed my 3M "clear bra", but instead of using a kit they have taken generic 3M clear bra film (that comes in 12" rolls) and have cut and stretched it to "fit" (which it doesn't).

My question is this:

What is the 3M part # for the custom 350Z kit?

Who did yours? Mine was done in NY the same way, and I wasn't totally satisfied with the result.

My local Nissan dealer did it, and it's obvious that their tech had never 3M'd a Z before. :icon20:

Did you get the Z-specific kit done to yours or a "custom" job like mine?

3M Bra

From Deb's Other Half:

I had my wife's PPW Touring AT done using a custom application. I would suggest you call around and ask questions. I really think the custom application my wife has is great - it has fewer seams and the seams match the seams on the car (fender to bumper, etc).

The installer used the 3M material which looked like it was on a roll about 3 feet wide. Wife's car went straight to the installer so there was no road grime under the hood. The installer wrapped the hood with the top of the film about even with the top of the headlights. The front bumper is one piece except for the little bar below the grill. Each fender is one piece - also had the flat part of the rearview mirrors done. I checked out the install and there were absolutely no mistakes or problems - of course, he said he had done a lot of these in all types of applications and had pictures to prove it.

Entire custom job, done well, was $500.

3M only makes the bulk product. They do not make a pre-cut kit for any car. comapnies like StonGard,Xpel and RockBlocker make pre-cut kits that will fit your vehicle if need be.

If you want to buy bulk then I woulkd go www.vehicleprotectionfilms.com. They are the cheapest since you cannot buy direct from 3M anymore.

Do you have a finantial interest in rockblocer.com? Why don't they put a phone number on their website? Why don't they list their installers? Why don't they take credit cards? What is their address? All the same questions for vehicle protection films.com. Are you a consumer/enthusiast trying to help or are you a business hiding from the IRS?

People appreciate honesty as much as price.

Road,

Mine was a "custom" job. Are you sure your dealer actually did it, or was it someone they brought in from the outside? The place that did mine mostly goes around and does installs for dealers.
