A/C Compressor Won't Turn On!?
My A/C compressor no longer clicks on, even though the AC light goes on. It blows air but it's hot, of course. What can I do to fix this without taking it to my dumbass dealer?
1. Fuse? Where is the fuse box and which fuse is it? 2. something with pressure? I have no tools. What are my options? |

And since you "...have no tools" (and I assume no technical training), your only options are 1) do without A/C, or 2) take it to qualified professional. bill |
it's probably low on regrigerant. there's a pressure switch in the system that wont let the compressor run with no/low refrigerant. go to any auto parts store and buy a can of r-134. they even come with a hose and gauge that connects to the low pressure line and cost about $20. takes about 5-15 minutes to dump a whole can into the system and it's pretty much idiot-proof as long as you can identify your high and low pressure ac lines and you can read the instructions on the can. this does mean you probably have a slow leak, so unless the leak is found and fixed, you'll have to do it again next summer.

thanks for the tips!

use a pressure gauge(connect to the low pressure side) to make sure you got the right amount of pressure in the system. Too much freon will blow you system. You probably got a leak somewhere, replacing the compressor is expensive.

fuse is very unlikely the cause .low freon means u have a leak..common leak condenser.need to take it nissan dealer..don't put auto zone freon or cheap shop..it will damage the ac system if they put wrong refrigirant oil.
