I'm sure it's more expensive for any auto manufacturer to equip a car with a DMF compared to solid flywheel. Most car companies are using DMF's today so compared to other cars, Nissan's DMF is probably equally priced.

yea they are more expensive than regualr flywheels.....my tiburon had a dual mass flywheel on it stock and my clutch failed on it....was going to be like 800 bucks just for another stock flywheel.....so i went with ACT.....stage 2 kit(flywheel, TOB, Clutch disk) for only 450

I don't get it,
I've had manual transmission cars all my life. Changed more than a few clutches,transmissions, flywheels, etc. I've never seen a drive train thay makes the racket that these Z's make. As far as a solid flywheel making more noise than this dual mass junk, why is that? I've never had a dual mass flywheel before but, of the solids that I've had, not one ever made a sound. Occasionally when a throwout bearing went bad and was noisy, that meant that it was time to change it.
As far as these lousy transmissions are concerned, somebody needs to make an adapter kit to couple up a t-6 to the Z's 3.5.

quick questions. anyone know if the dealership will replace the clutch/flywheel due to this noise and will it be covered under the 60K mile drivetrain warranty???

yep mine does it too, its normal for these cars. Nothing to be worried about, doesn't effect reliability in the least. These cars have carbon drive shafts, dual mass flywheels, many things you won't find in your regular old car, there is going to be differences, personally I'll take these differences if it means having to hear a faint noise at idle with the clutch out, the only time I can really hear it is sitting in a drive thru and have my window down while it bounces off the fast food building.
Always does this when I'm next to a wall.
