Default Tiptronic/Manumatic not working?

Hello everyone, I bought a used '03 touring about 1 1/2 months ago and well, up until recently I noticed that I can't go into manumatic\tiptronic mode for whatever reason.

This might be a noob question but does this have to do with the tranny being broken? I've searched around the forum and google but there are no topics concerning this issue.

if anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate it. also in b4 5AT flames, etc etc

I had this happen to me...It wouldn't shift over to manual mode, like it was locked. I researched it in the service manual and there can be a few root causes but one day it just started working again so I never had to take it in.

Good luck.

How many miles on that puppy? It might need a trans flush and new fluids.

If it's "locked" and won't switch into manual mode, the root cause isn't the need for a tranny flush/fluid change.

Thanks, that's pretty much the best advice I can get, I'll go right ahead and do that. No, really.

@350z2k3
you said this problem hasn't anything to do with the tranny fluid, so do you know what the actual problem might be, or? thanks for the help either way
