Heater blows cold air at idle.

Anyone know what this is? Thermostat problem? I have a plenum spacer with a throttle body coolant line bypass if that helps. When I drive its fine. As soon as I stop its cold. :dunno:

No idea but mine did that too for the first time last night. It was around 2 degrees outside too. It only did it once though and it is working fine now.

air in the coolant system or low coolant.

First and foremost coolant needs to be to the top or wherever the full line is.

Basically wait til warm operating temperatures on the motor then have a friend rev to around 2000 or a tad bit higher and hold it. Look for a pressure relief valve by the battery. Slowly....SLOWLY unscrew it. You'll hear stuff and may see some bubbles coming out. Do this as many times as needed until your car blows warm air at idle.

Don't worry it's a common problem and I have the problem too....but too cold and snowy to fix it right now.

I had the same problem. I was low on coolant. I just ended up doing a flush and bam it was fixed.

After trying to top off and unscrewing the valve (maybe 30-40 times) it still didn't work for me. But then I have dumped some coolent and added water, it did help. I'm not saying put in water instead of coolent, but just make sure you have a mix. Hope it helps also

I thought I'd chime in with my experience on this as my heater was also blowing cold air at idle. I followed the FSM procedure to remove air from the system. The FSM does not mention anything about having the car parked on an incline to do this. I cheated a little bit and added my own step to the FSM to make things easier. Basically, once my radiator and overfill tank were filled to the proper level, I put the rad. cap back on and added more coolant via the air relief port. Once it started overflowing, I closed it up and proceeded to step # 5 in the FSM. It worked like a charm on the 1st try! I had to add a very small amount to the radiator once I got done with step #7.

Good luck!
