Car won't let me fuel it to full?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I've been noticing on my 2005 35th anniversary that when I'm fueling the car up the pump cuts off at about the half-tank mark. I try moving the nozzle in and out, but that only works for about a second before it cuts out again.

Has anyone else had this problem? How can I fix it? I checked the Nissan tech site to see if there were any recalls on it, I didn't see any.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

I know this has been discussed on here before, but I forgot why it does that. It's happened to me twice too.

I tried using search, but couldn't find any discussions about it. If anyone knows the link to an old discussion, plz link me to it :)

Thank you :) I'll keep searching around and see if anything comes up.

I thought so too, my friend had a G35 that got recalled for the filler neck. When I look at the Nissan Recalls site, it only has exterior lighting as a recall on the '05 350

Oh of course when I search SafeCar.gov this time it comes up with multiple recalls.

NISSAN / 350Z 2003-2008
Service Bulletin Number : FE-08-003
NHTSA Item Number : 10025970
Summary Description :
NISSAN: HARD TO FILL FUEL TANK. THE FUEL TANK IS DIFFICULT TO FILL MORE THAN 1/2. NOTE: FILLING NOZZLE CONTINUES TO CLICK OFF WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS MORE THAN 1/2 FULL. *PE

How do I go about getting recall work done if the car was purchased used, and isn't under warranty anymore? Will I have to pay for it? I've never had any recall work done to a car I've owned before.

what i was told is that since the angle of piping it takes longer to flow through, what i do is leave the nozzle of the pump out a bit so the air flow will help the flow of the gas into the tank. or it could just be the sensor.

I'll try this and pumping slower, I found the 3 year old thread that discussed it. Seems like slower pumping fixed the problem.

This is not a recall but a service bulletin. Nissan will complete service bulletins IF your car is under warranty. If not it is on your dime.

You have to keep the nozzle about half-way to about a little more than half-way in the first time.

call the dealer, they may have extended the miles and years for certain tsb's, we have a few like that on lexus' out of factory warranty but still under warranty for the service bulletin.

worth the try
