SES, "SLIP," and "VDC OFF" Lights on at startup! Won't respond to throttle!

Finally, I was able to start up and drive to the dealer, but it took 10 or so tries. It drives fine when just the SES light is on. But the other 9 times, all three lights came on and the engine won't respond to the throttle at all! Just sits and idles...
Any guesses what could be wrong?

deffinately Eletrical... ECU maybe... fly-by-wire system possibly

Same thing happened to me.

It turned out to be the electronic throttle acuator (the thing on the intake manifold that opens the throttle butterfly)

It was a guick fix at the dealer, but it was a 700.00 part!!! Thank god for the waranty.

Just heard back from the dealer... they say the "Electronic Throttle Chamber" is bad... could this be the same thing?
This is really making me nervous about long-term reliability...
I can't possibly afford to own a car full of $700 electrical components that like to fail....

Sounds like the same part to me. I worry about the long term also, but all cars now are full of 700.00 electrical parts. Glad I got the extended warranty.

Yikes! $700 for a throttle body. I mean I know that it's got that groovy little motor so we can all tell our friends "Oh, it's throttle by wire." but a bit steep.

Perhaps that's why this Tommy Kaira performance kit is $10K.

hmmm... any ideas on how this happened?? I had a similar problem once... while accelerating fast...my rpms started to drop even tho i was pressing the throttle. Rpms went down until the car died. Tried to start it up but it kept on dying.. turned out to be the air flow sensor. i took it out and something fell out... now my car has been workin ever since.
