SES, "SLIP," and "VDC OFF" Lights on at startup! Won't respond to throttle!
Finally, I was able to start up and drive to the dealer, but it took 10 or so tries. It drives fine when just the SES light is on. But the other 9 times, all three lights came on and the engine won't respond to the throttle at all! Just sits and idles...
Any guesses what could be wrong? Mika |
deffinately Eletrical... ECU maybe... fly-by-wire system possibly
|
Same thing happened to me.
It turned out to be the electronic throttle acuator (the thing on the intake manifold that opens the throttle butterfly) It was a guick fix at the dealer, but it was a 700.00 part!!! Thank god for the waranty. Silverstone Performance Phoenix AZ |
Just heard back from the dealer... they say the "Electronic Throttle Chamber" is bad... could this be the same thing?
This is really making me nervous about long-term reliability... I can't possibly afford to own a car full of $700 electrical components that like to fail.... Mika |
Sounds like the same part to me. I worry about the long term also, but all cars now are full of 700.00 electrical parts. Glad I got the extended warranty.

Yikes! $700 for a throttle body. I mean I know that it's got that groovy little motor so we can all tell our friends "Oh, it's throttle by wire." but a bit steep.
Perhaps that's why this Tommy Kaira performance kit is $10K. |
hmmm... any ideas on how this happened?? I had a similar problem once... while accelerating fast...my rpms started to drop even tho i was pressing the throttle. Rpms went down until the car died. Tried to start it up but it kept on dying.. turned out to be the air flow sensor. i took it out and something fell out... now my car has been workin ever since.
