Car Won't Start -_-
 

So me and my friend just finished installing 6000k HIDs and a sub and amplifier on my03 350z. I drove it out of his garage just fine and parked it.
4 hours later we went to get cash at the ATM. We were double parked and at that time when I tried to start it, it wouldn't start. The car doesn't even crank. Then after about 15 tries and 5 minutes later, out of nowhere it magically starts! Again as we parked to meet up with a friend, as I tried to leave, it didn't start. Once again, after trying like the 20th time, it magically starts. :icon25:. As the night progressed and every time I turn it off and try to start again, the same process happens: car won't turn start, but after about 20+ tries it will magically start.


The radio and gauges work fine, and the volts are normal at 12-14. The car doesn't even crank which is the oddest thing. When it DOES start, its normal, as in a quick crank and starts up perfectly fine.

My sub and amplifier isn't connected to anything yet because I still run the stock deck(non BOSE) and unfortunately, it does not have the connections for them. Therefore, my cables are just sitting behind the stock stereo waiting for a aftermarket deck to connect it in. Could it be the HIDs? Well... the battery seems fine and the install was done with a relay as well. Could it be the immobilizer perhaps? :confused:

Has anyone had or heard of this problem before? Any info would be appreciated.

I'm not a mechanic... but the immobilizer will allow the engine to crank, but it just wont start. This sounds like some electrical issue, power is not getting to the starter motor perhaps. Do you get any clicking noise when trying to start? If so it's probably just your battery going bad or not getting charged. Take your car to a Schucks or AutoZone or something and have them test your battery and charging system for free.

Here’s the deal,

The car isn’t starting after driving because either the alternator is bad, or something got screwed up with the alternator when chestuhr installed the new electronic stuff.

The battery is in great shape. That’s why chestuhr can run the car and get it to start after a "resting period"; the car is running purely on battery power, and the battery isn’t getting charged by the alternator.

When he stops and attempts restarting the car, the poor battery, that is now doing double duty, is just too spent. After waiting 20 or more minutes, the battery has a chance to recharge itself, and then the car starts.

After another day or two, the car won't start or run at all.

Me and my friend are gonna check what went wrong. It might just be some loose wires because the car sometimes starts with one try, more likely on a hill too

It very well could be some loose wires, but that’s a pretty “loose” answer that won’t get you to your solution quickly. I mean… How many loose wires does it take to cause this problem? How do you determine which wires and how many wires are” loose?”

I would recommend going at this problem on a different path than you seem to be on.
